They call it PT4G-VCI - but it's probably just a VAS6154. Assured it's not what you listed.
Again, I reached out to Mars, he never replied to me....which is why I had to go a different route. Guy is busy I guess...

Good guys are ALWAYS busy. VAS6154 is a dinosaur. We migrated to the T6 years ago. Try him again he's the only resource that has consistently come through to myriads of folks on Rennlist.

Get the right s/w from the right person and again 2024 and prior no need for PIWIS 4.

@siberian Since you mentioned it, would you mind providing some insight on better/worse characteristics of the VNCI PT3G and the TabScan T6PT3G? Since the Actia VCIs are hard to find AND expensive, it would be nice to hear from someone who seems well-versed in these devices.

The VAS was perennially the bottle neck. VALs would take upwards of 30 minutes and multiple retries, s/w version IIRC on it had to be 1.6.6.0 (frozen in time) and seat belt and hazard lights had to be kept flashing and engaged so that it wouldn't time out.

A group of us some years ago migrated to the Tabscan T6PT3G; not cheap but night and day. VALS were now clocked at near 4 minutes and life was great. I have no experience with the VNCI so I can't comment other than the folks in our little group are considered the Illuminati and under the guidance of Mars we migrated over dumping the VAS in the trash.

Sorry I can't comment on the VNCI but given what folks spend on bling... this is worth every penny if you intend to work on your car.

Might be worth mentioning that the tabscan works with BMW's dealer software too. I used it to service the transfer case on my Wife's X5. I wouldn't be surprised it if worked with others as well.

The TabScan Software Manager reflects multiple available drivers, and since OBD2 is an accepted standard, the VCI needs to be aware of different manufacturers' implementations. So the T6PT3G seems to be a more advanced, programmable VCI. The VCNI device also seems to be programmable as there are lots of "flavors" of the VNCI device for various manufacturers. I have both devices now and am trying to figure why I should choose one over the other - or maybe it simply doesn't matter!

I did run into an issue with the VNCI PT3G device on my 2004 GT3. It hangs when trying to communicate with only the ABS control module - all other modules were just fine. Mars coordinated a problem determination session for the VNCI engineers to grab some trace dumps of the interaction as it stalls. (Actually interesting to see how the VCI is treated as a network device - you just gotta love WireShark!) Still waiting to hear if there is an update or fix that might become available in the future.

Documentation for these devices is pretty sparse - especially installation processes and how files get copied to the specific directories. I think I understand what happens when the Tabscan Software Manager executes as far as .dll's go, but am not sure of any registry entries made. There are .xml files that drive various channel interactions, but the heart of either VCI seems to live in the custom .dl that is paired with the specific VCI. And after installation the Actia Manager test tool is a great tool to ensure the device can test out properly. Of course, then there is the pairing with PIWIS......

So, all this to say, I'm just trying to figure out which one is "better". The VNCI VCI worked flawlessly when Mars coded the matrix lights in my Panamera, and worked fine enabling High Beam Assistant in my wife's Macan but it had real trouble with my GT3's ABS CU. With the GT3 in the shop right now, I don't have it available to test out my T6PT3G and see if it experiences the same issue or not.

And if money grew on trees, I'd just buy the Actia PT3G-E V2 or the PT4G and be done with it! Nothing like the quest for "better"!

@siberian If you ever experiment with the VNCI PT3G device, I hope you will share those experiences.

@B Russ I’m going to be listing my VNCI PT3G very soon. LMK if you might be interested. VCI, USB cables and software.

Too late I have a TabScan T6PT3G on the way but thank you.
Have you guys put together a coding list or guide pdf on how to do certain things? Like making the rear spoiler go up at lower mph? or shutting off the reverse camera at 3mph. I was able to do those and a bunch of stuff on my 991 with Thinkdiag but its limited on 992.

Anyone know what menu or module a DME over-rev report is under? tried following other generation 911 guides and it doesn't seem to exist on the 992 in the same place. I hunted around and still couldn't find it.

Any guidance?

Go to DME then actual values tab. Scroll to Z Timing and select ranges you want to display.
