I understand and agree with the sentiment. However in the UK from 2030 ICE cars need to be plug in hybrids (not even mild hybrids) and five years later they cannot have an ICE engine of any form. I think Europe is the same or similar. Sure that broadly gets us through the 998 lifecycle but without a rear hanging ICE it is clearly not a 911 but the change is coming sometime unless it moves to ROW sales only.

Perhaps I'll come off as burying my head in the sand...but I'll believe these diktats when the time actually comes.

Given that the UK is having charging points shut off 9 hour a day to avoid blackouts in the face of today's EV demand, I'm not optimistic they can have a grid ready support widespread EV adoption in my lifetime (37 years old).

This is a physics problem that will find its way to everyone's doorstep soon enough, regardless of political affiliation or climatological ideals. We'll see how firm these 10-15 year 'requirements' really are.

agree... the first all electric 911 will no longer be the 911... that's when Porsche needs to retire the line.

The one thing to remember about the EV revolution is that these Plug In Hybrid and all EV dates being rolled out in countries and in states in the US mandate that engines on new cars sold must be Plug In Hybrid or EV by that date. And obviously Plug In means still an ICE component. That says nothing of all the existing cars on the road at that deadline that are no Plug In or EV. You can't mandate that all existing cars go away or are replaced, so if you think about the number of cars out there now that are older, it will take an incredibly long time for ICE cars to become extinct, Not withstanding supporting the EV power grid needs.

I miss my manual 997.2S as well. More than enough power, sublime steering, perfect size, and built like a brick s....house. Oh well.

I personally don't expect the hybrid or 992.2 till 2024.
