It will come after the current 992.1.

:-)

Some chance (IMO) that there will be a hybrid version of it, or maybe they’ll all be hybrid, but I’m only 50/50 on that. I know they’ve build some capacity into the layout of the car to include some electric motors, but no idea if that’s to test through an entire generation or to actually include it halfway through.

And I’m not waiting!

Still a few years out from the .2

I'm betting at least one or two hybrid variants but definitley not full line up.

As SomeGuy said, there'll likely be some hybrid variants, but I don't think you'll be forced in that direction. As far as the .2 is concerned, it usually comes in the fifth year of the product cycle. Since the 992.1 was introduced as a MY20 model, the .2 will likely come as a MY25, probably sometime in calendar 24.

If you are waiting for a 992.2, enjoy your particulate filters, because US cars will be getting them.

Model 2020 in the US doesn't have it. I doubt it will be the same for 21. I read the TTS has it worldwide. Same goes for the 718 GT4 and GTS

2024 most likely.

I was told by a reputable source that Porsche is re-considering hybrid power in these and waiting for the next gen (994?) but at this point I don't think even Porsche has made a final decision.

Well understood 911 buying facts:
- never buy the .1 of a model in the first two years (until they get all the defects sorted)
- never buy a .1 when the .2 is due out in <2 yrs as you'll be outdated immediately
- never buy the .2 in the first two years (see above)
- wait for the GTS
- better yet, wait for the T

You missed...
- never buy the .2 when the new generation is two years or less away

...so, fact, there is basically no right time to buy one 🤣

You’re not going to see a hybrid 911 with currently available battery tech. We’re going to get one with a supercapacitor or solid state battery, because Porsche knows that everyone will revolt if they give us a 911 that weighs more than 4,000lb. This is apparently the reason for the rumored delay.

Yup. I'm guessing hybrid but not plug-in hybrid. They'll fit a small motor into the PDK where they designed for it, give it a couple kwh of lithium batteries (sub 100lbs) and use it for torque fill and economy purposes. I'd expect this will be a 992.2 base engine hybrid that roughly lines up with the S after electric boost, and also in the Turbo S where weight isn't as big of a deal.
