992 - another overpriced, unsatisfying non-GT 911

There is absolutely no way Porsche are going to put the new 9A2 motor in the regular 992. A niche model...maybe...but the regular 992 now way. Why?
Well firstly, its CO2 rating is 249 g/km. That's a lot and in Europe you get taxed heavily every year on the CO2 level of the car. The CO2 level of a 991.2 CS is 199 g/km and the CO2 level of a regular 991 C is 169g/km. Both significantly lower than the NA 9A2 engine. Indeed, when the 991.2 came out, sales increased due to the lower CO2 and the cars falling into a lower tax bracket.
Secondly, in a number of ROW countries, including China, cars over 3.0l in engine capacity get hit with a huge tax making any cars with engines 3.0l or over quite difficult to sell.

Real world, Rennlist user review you disagree with = trash, and to be berated at all costs
Paid, "TV presenter" review (Harris of all godforsaken people) that you 'agree' with = relevant, non-paid-for, honest opinions
Lol. can't make this stuff up.

I'd have a very hard time giving up the fantastic little twin turbo motor in my 991.2 Carrera though. It's perfect for the street.

Agree. I have had 3 x 991.1s. Now have a 991.2 GTS alongside my GT3 Touring and multiple RSs. And right now, my 991.2 GTS is my favourite car.

9A2 is what the 991.2 and 992 currently have. The 9A2 EVO is the 4.0 NA. Both of which are still base off the 991.1 NA engine which is the 9A1.
Same cylinder firing order and very similar blocks.. The 991.2 3.0 and 991.1 3.8 have very similar sounding engines. It's the exhaust and plumbing which are much different sounding.

Ya...I was specifically referring to the notoriously poor interior design/quality, not racetrack performance. To each their own but the new C8 interior, and everything else about it, looks a lot better than the C7. I could be wrong though because I remember thinking how cheap the C7 looked the first time I saw one in person after I thought it looked okay in photos. The rear fender vents on the C7 had little plastic fins where a piece of carbon fiber could have looked incredible and probably cost GM a minuscule amount with their scale.
I think they'll eventually put the 9A2 Evo motor in an updated 992, fix most of the stuff people are complaining about like the nub and ultimately make it a more exciting and valuable car than the 991.2 regular models.

I've sat in a 992 and I've sat in a C8 and honestly I prefer the C8 interior. I'm a big fan of the 992 but its interior is a weak link and in certain instances (I'm looking at you shiny flimsy plastic on the center console) feels down right cheap. Lots of reasons the premium $$$ of the 992 may make sense over a C8.... interior quality/fit/finish will not be one of them.
I suspect the C8 is a divisive interior. It looks a bit out there to me: digital overload, a hanging iPad, and that great long button array. It’s a teenage gamer’s dream car sim setup in a real car.

I am just waiting for the aftermarket to release a triangular shaped steering wheel. Or, maybe swap out the top quarter of the OEM steering wheel? While they are at it, do the same swap for the bottom quarter.

Hate it! Absolutely hate it. That button array is hot garbage and the person who designed it should be fired.

So far the 992 feels very plain vanilla to me. I have many specific gripes and a few likes. They went more mainstream to appeal to the masses. That does not appeal to me.
As as far as the vette. I am still trying to wrap my head around the design of this interior and no manual trans.
