Here are some shots from the configurator. I welcome any comments -- pro and con. Thanks.

Excellent choice. I like them both, but the GT silver is such a classic look and looks great on the Targa. Now the wait.... enjoy.

Got a chance to see my new ride in person a couple of days ago. PPF and Ceramic and then we'll be good to go!

Seeing it in person, I'm extremely pleased with the way it turned out and can't wait to get it out on the road!

Guys, I've given up on waiting for a used 911 and going to put my name down for a 992 Carrera S. Had a chance a couple months ago on a used 991.1 and passed because it wasn't exactly what I wanted, and now I'm seeing used cars in my area going for above MSRP!!! This is the first time I'm buying a Porsche, I assume I contact the dealership to go on a waiting list and wait for an allocation. I'm guessing they will likely ask for a deposit of some sort, would it be reasonable to expect the deposit is refundable until an allocation is actually assigned? Do you guys contact multiple dealerships and put your name on multiple lists? I'm prepared to wait a year.

You should not drop a deposit until you have a firm allocation. And, yes, it is refundable.

Gettin an allocation will be part of the issue and challenge. They're pretty scarce still but I hear its getting better. Most who have had success called around..meaning multiple dealerships till they found one with an allocation or a good chance of getting one. Also don't overlook the few dealers who may have cars on the lot also. Not everyone can custom order their vehicles as things seemed to have shifted in the last 12 mos for 992 purchases [as least on this forum] so you find a car that way. Good luck and remember that perfect is probably not out there so be prepared to deal and be flexible. A buddy of mine is like he NEVER pays MSRP for any car and always prides himself on being able to negotiate significant discounts on his car purchases.....he's been trying to get a Targa S allocation WITH said discount since last Fall. So far NO-ONE has given him the discount he thinks he deserves or should had NOR have there been many allocations open he's found....no car 6+ mos looking but he insists he'll get 8-10% off yet....just saying.

I went thru this scenario 6 weeks ago. Ended up finding an allocation thru my local dealer. I put down $5k to lock my build to the allocation. The last of the 2021 allocations is probably all that’s available now if any. I’m not sure when the 2022 allocations are first released.

when demand is high like now, I find it difficult to get significant discounts. You can either wait a while or pay what the market will bear. I did get a small discount on my order.

On the positive, I had the opportunity to custom order my first Porsche.

I thought I had an allocation for a 21 C2S and put my 991.1 GTS up for sale. Just before I sold the car I found out that my allocation would be pushed to 2022 and at least 6 months later than promised. So I took my car off for sale and I will not put it back on the market until I actually see the vehicle I am buying. I don't think the dealer is playing games, I just think it is the nature of the supply / demand situation at the moment.

If you have an allocation, you should be able to go onto Track My Dream and see it. The minute the dealer put my order in, I got an email from Porsche. Ok, maybe 30 minutes later. Should have the lock date and everything. If you don't have that - then you probably don't/didn't have an allocation and... yes, the dealer is probably playing games with you. Ugh. Sorry.

I have a commission number and V200 status. Does that mean anything? I don't know.

Yes, it does at least as I understand it. If an order goes in in the absence of an allocation it is assigned V070 status - "Order demand released for order." A commission number is assigned at that stage, but not an allocation. When you get to V200 - "Delivery date determined" - that is assigned when you have an allocation and a build slot. If you've not gotten an invitation to Track Your Dream, ask your dealer what the status is and ask them to send you a report or screen shot from their PSVM system. A report should look like the attached. If they do not in fact have an allocation yet you'd be at V070. No tracking information would be available, but that status would be reflected on the current "Retail Build Sheet" that the dealer could forward to you.

Alright guys, I'm officially a member of this thread now. Just placed my deposit, was told 4 to 8 months for allocation (does this sound right?), so I will be impatiently waiting. Deposit is refundable so I will keep looking for a used 911 in the meantime, but used prices are outrageous.

Here is my build sheet:

Nice minimalist build. Almost a Carrera T. Though for a minute I couldn't figure out why the price was so high with relatively few options, till I realized it was Canadian Dollars.
