There are over 1500 completed North America bound cars in Emden, Davisville, or the factory. Do the math, Porsche is out a bunch of bucks.
So, when is the launch? All I hear is that emission certifications are the hold-up. For lack of a better date 9/13 seems to be the answer. Not as good as the earlier July date.
The second most profitable car company can't give us a better delivery date. We took a chance, ordered a 992, are being kept in the dark. WE, THE CUSTOMER, DESERVE BETTER.

Spoke with SA today. He is going to 992 training 2nd week in July as is the shop technician. He seems to think he will have reliable info after his training.

Porsche NA updates the configurator, but on deliveries they are silent. Once we get cars we will be deluged with surveys. Let them know it wasn't the best scenario.
I sent a TERSE email to Porsche NA yesterday. EVERYONE should deluge them with emails complaining. Here is the response I received...

Thank you for taking the time to contact Porsche Cars North America in regard to the email you recently received with the status of your 911 Carrera S delivery. I sincerely regret to learn of your frustrations that prompted your contact, but I appreciate the opportunity to respond.

Please be advised that we currently estimate all 2020 911 Carrera models in the United States to officially become available for sale on September 4th, 2019. Once the models are officially available for sale, they can be released from port and delivered to their selling dealerships. Porsche is committed to the highest levels of product quality and this commitment requires Porsche to take additional steps to help us meet the long term product quality expectations. We want to assure you that this is typical of port processing procedures to ensure that your vehicle is delivered with the highest possible level of quality. The current estimated date of September 4th is subject to change, and we encourage you to stay in close touch with your Sales Associate or the Sales Manager for updates and new information as they become available. Your Porsche dealership would be in the best position to provide you with the most accurate estimated arrival dates for your vehicle, however, you should be able to take delivery of your vehicle shortly after the 2020 911 Carrera models officially become available for sale.

I know that this is not what you were hoping to hear and we sincerely apologize for the dissatisfaction that prompted your correspondence, but I hope that I was able to provide you with further insight and understanding on this matter. I hope that you have a wonderful rest of your day and week!

Best regards,

A tentative September launch is consistent with the information my dealer provided from the very beginning. Of course, this is dependent upon EPA and CARB certifications being completed by then, a timeline which is not under Porsche's direct or exclusive control.

Barraging PCNA, or dealers for that matter, with terse emails demanding delivery isn't appropriate, a solution or going to change timelines. It's also inappropriate to target the PCNA staff member who extended the courtesy of responding to your terse email by publishing his/her contact information and encouraging a bombardment from all.

Of course, you could threaten to hold your breath and stomp your feet, but that won't work either.

ummm... hate to break it to you but angry emails to your dealers won't speed up emission certifications... It sucks but its not uncommon. Mercedes had about 6 months of E63S cars sitting at the port waiting.

Golfster, your sarcasm is not required! There was no threatening or demanding of delivery. I was just voicing my dissatisfaction with their communication process (or lack of it). As you can CLEARLY see from their email, there was no explanation of why the cars are being delayed. As a matter of fact, I couldn't find a reason after Googling it either. Seems like it's all hush hush (including my longtime dealer too). I do understand that Porsche does not control the emission testing timeline. But, I only learned about this delay after joining rennlist two days ago, hours after I received the email and after I responded to the PCNA Customer Service Rep thanking him for getting back to me. Being in business and knowing the value of TOTAL customer satisfaction and receiving feedback (positive or negative), is an important tool to improving the companies brand loyalty with its customer base. This is the reason why customers should complain to PCNA about their communication process. I guess I'll start breathing again. Oh...and my feet are killing me.

While on the topic of delays in delivery....
I will likely get my C4S in November in Chicago, so will need winter tires right away. I have a winter wheel/tire set off my 991.1. Purchased through tire rack, but I think same sizes as factory wheel/tire set. What are the chances these will work on the 992? I noticed on the configurator there is an option to order 20/20 winter packages, along with 19/20 and 20/21.

The best tool ever:
http://www.willtheyfit.com

Put in 992 stock sizes (easily found on the technical specs on the configurator) and the full specs of your 991 wheels/tires.
It won't say for sure if "they will fit" but it provides a very nice guide for what the difference will look like (total rolling diameter, sticks out more, etc).

Generally the limiting factors are how much difference in total diameter (wheel + tire sidewall) there is, and if the offsets have changed dramatically.
Going to a skinnier wheel/tire is not a bad thing - especially in winter.

Hi guys,

I ordered my 992 Carrera S early April with delivery time 31st October. I just found out (after having called the dealership myself !) that the car is now scheduled to be produced by end November (at the dealer in Belgium mid December)...

No fun but ... what can I do ?

Anyone else in Europe experiencing additional delays ?

My local dealership shows 3 992 4S incoming, including a 4S Cabriolet with a MSRP of over $165k. Jeebus! That's more than I paid for my 991 turbo cab. a few years back.

That's not hard to get to at all...my 2S Cab is the same number and I passed on a bunch of stuff....could have easily added another $10k, and kind of wish I had! You can still get a new 991 turbo cab (non-S) from dealer inventory for 20-ish more, but the regular S isn't that far off the performance of an older turbo, and you get all the new mods.

Porsche ignored my Email so I contacted the EPA and got a very different story than what we are being told via our dealers or Porsche. What the EPA told me is that Porsche is planning to submit the paperwork to start the certification process at the end of the summer. Assuming that all the required information is present when this is filed with the EPA, add about two months before the process will complete and the legally required labels for the cars could be available. That suggests an on sale date much later than September. The person at the EPA might be wrong, but it seems pretty unlikely with what their job is.

My sales advisor is heading to the training event this week and will be asking them about what the status really is.

My build:
http://www.porsche-code.com/PL7RNQB2

This will be my first Porsche, always wanted one and now it'll finally happen.

My freeze date is in a couple of days and I made the final changes yesterday. I inquired about a few of the recently added configurator options, the aluminum shifter and the mirror base in high gloss black and my SA told me that it'd push back the build date by two months or so so I opted to not go for them.
