which dealer is it? I’ve asked couple dealers in SoCal the best they can do is $3000-$4000 off MSRP.

Porsche Irvine. My dealer was Aaron. Great guy. You can ask, but I’m a repeat customer of theirs with my last purchase from them just 18 months ago.

A lot depends on the dealer and the configuration of the car. Some dealers may have an S coupe allocation that locks up next week, and others may not. Others may have a base cab or a Targa or something that locks up shortly. When a dealer has an allocation its always for a specific configuration, meaning for a base coupe or an S Cab or a S coupe etc etc. So, if you go into order an S coupe, that dealer may not have an S coupe allocation that locks up soon, even though they may have and S cab allocation that locks up tomorrow. Now, the kicker is the dealer can either dealer trade for the allocation you're looking for if there is one across the country that's open at another dealer, or he can speak to his regional sales rep and sometimes can get his allocation changed to the configuration you want.

As long as the floor model is new and does not have miles would you expect it to sell cheaper than one that's been sitting on the lot the same amount of time? How long has it been on the floor? When I ran a Porsche store I would mix up the cars on the floor every couple weeks. I guess the question is ..... would you expect a car on the floor to sell for more or less than one that's on the lot, assuming they were delivered to the dealer about the same time?

When I asked to order a Cayman GTS 4.0. my dealer didn't have an allocation. But he had a 911 allocation. He said it'd be easy to trade the 911 allocation (with another dealership) for a GTS 4.0 allocation, because the margin on a 911 is higher than the margin on a Cayman. In other words, the dealership makes more profit selling a new 911 than selling a new Cayman. He did trade it, and I got my CGTS 4.0 allocation.

Best negotiating tool a person has is their “feet”. Be willing to walk and wait to get what you want to pay. Now isn’t the most ideal time as they have more buyers than cars at the moment. It will change.

Why would the dealer trade a less profitable allocation for one that they can make more money, and even ADM? That's like a dealer saying "here's a check of $10k. Have a nice day." What is the rest of the story?

Heck, Im just surprised he found a dealer with little effort that has a 992 allocation! Maybe we should propose a thread with a finders fees for folks that kindly share this knowledge...
