Default MSRP discount 992

What sort of discounts are those who have ordered seeing? I place a well equipped order but they will only take off $2000. I have asked for $4000, but they aren’t going with that. I thought 5-7% off on ordered cars was the norm.

Its supply v demand. 992 is like a commodity at the moment and dealers aren't going to get many allocations...Why would they give you a big discount when the next guy in line will pay full MSRP? Have to pay to play with the new gen.

They will certainly take off $4000.....if you wait another six months before you place the order.

why? Because they have over $8k profit on the model and another $4k in options and they want to keep a customer rather than having him look elsewhere. They know that allocations will be coming in droves and there will be 911s sitting.

Sounds like you need to shop a bit more. I will agree that with the 992 being so new, discounts will not be easy. Heck, I would not be surprised if some dealers gouge and ask over MSRP.

Why place an order before getting the discount you desire? You've already lost all your leverage.

I told them I am not in a hurry and will wait for a discount. They have extended my Cayenne lease though, so they need a commission number. I’m asking here to see what deals others are getting. I haven’t found any mentions of a discount online yet.

I think you’ve got them right where you want them. Cunning work.

There are always gotta have it first people that dealers will prey on first,......after a few months when that dries up your are good to go with discounts.
I don't see the 992 being in high demand for very long, and definitely wouldn't pay MSRP for a base or S right now. These allocations are not limited at all,...if you want one a dealer can get one.

Get a set config to email, then shop it nationwide and figure in the amount to have it delivered or plane fare to the dealer and drive it home. Done it many times.

How large of a discount are people expecting? About $5 or 6k? My sense is that people who are going to buy a car at appx. $135k aren't going to wait very long to save $5k? Maybe there is an expectation of more. I could be wrong?

I would at least ask what they can do for pricing on a 992 and see what they have to say, not much effort to potentially save 4 digits even if I'm set on the car

Personally I dont have a reason to be loyal to any dealer I've worked with in the past, as they seemed to have forgotten my much appreciated business when it came time for me to inquire about a GT3/3RS allocation...

You wouldn't believe how many nickel and dimers we have here. Not to mention those who are more dream than steam and look to buy above their means.

My favorite saying: rich people are rich because they live like they are poor. Poor people are poor because they live like they are rich.
