A straight piped turbo will always be quieter than a straight piped N/A, you'll get turbo whistles though.

That being said, I've heard some pretty good sounding turbo cars, but only with a complete lack of a muffler.

Yes they are fake. They are NOT exhaust tips. The are bumper trim holes for the exhaust to exit from and not connected.

How can they be exhaust tips by definition??

I came very close to buying one before deciding to buy the 992. I’m curious, for all the people who do not like the 992, what is going to be the next Car under $150k for these individuals? I’m not aware of another new Car in that price range that offers 80% of a Porsche. Certainly not a BMW 8 series or a Mercedes SL.
Comparing a 911 to an 8 series BMW or Merc SL--comparing a sports GT to luxo sedans--misses the point by a fair bit.

Seems like the particulate filters are on all 911's regardless what country.

It would certainly be easier for the factory to churn out cars knowing that they all have the filter, but there are regional differences to the cars (the antenna wart, for instance, is on US builds but not European builds). There seems to be debate on RL as to whether the filter will be on US builds or not. The above article says "all Porsche 911s leaving the factory.." which seems pretty concrete but is that "all" 911s for the world, or "all" 911s for Europe, where the filter is required? It is not clear. Like former President Clinton once famously said: "It depends on what your definition of 'is' is." I would imagine one of the RL members who works at a USA Porsche dealership could get us a definitive answer on this.

^ I was told by several engineers and others that the U.S.-spec 992 will not get the filters—and will sound better as a result

They could install the filter casement, but not the filter itself. That would let them design one exhaust system, with US market cars missing some of the guts. Fabspeed will take care of the rest.

Thanks for the clarification, Professor Stout! Looking forward to year three of 000, S edition! Speaking of engines, have you considered an 000 article on the evolution of the 911 flat six engine? It is my understanding that the flat six was invented by Mercedes-Benz (I could be wrong on that). It would be interesting to learn about the evolution of the flat six over the past 56 years. I really enjoyed reading your thoughts on the GT3 in your GT3-themed edition. You have a great way with words - and that is coming from a nerdy English major!

Foolish to have posted AGAIN about the particulate filter. Not on USA cars. This was cleared up weeks ago. More fake news. More trolling.
