There’s just a different something about the 992 that reminds me of the Panamera... The front is fine, but the kind of inflated rear and oversized bumper just doesn’t do it for me.... and the spoiler..? Were they on drugs or something, when they designed that
I’m sure that they drive fantastic, but its gonna take me a while to get used to that new 911 flavor....
one thing is cool though.... ill love my up coming 991.2 RS even more

Ordered my 2018 991.2 (took delivery June 2018) thinking I had to get the order in to avoid being stuck with a digital dash and god knows what of the up coming 992. Another prime concern was would the manual transmission be dropped. Anyway I've already voiced some of my dislikes of the 992 in previous posts. If I may be permitted to go OT a little, I was wondering if anyone here knows if there are any changes between the 2018 991.2 and the 2019 991.2? The only thing I know of that distinguishes the 2017 991.2 from the 2018 991.2 is the elimination of the headlight washers. Thanks!

992 doesn't look very good in carrara white. I think it looks bloaty and fat, rear especially looks bulbous. Front has a lot of straight horizontal lines that really needs some breaks. I would have liked more curves.

That the 992 looks like a Panamera is not the corporate point. Their goal is that the Panamera, Macan, and Cayenne look like the 911 to their owners. Aspirational marketing and brand identification drive the design teams. The “homage” styling cues (hood/shut lines) are tacked on to provide marketing talking points because there is clearly no single mind with a defined philosophy at work here. The one and only laser focused design mandate for the 992 was to tack on that rear clip bar with the Porsche script, the tie that binds.

Agree, not like you're going to have time telling which is which side by side obviously.
They are all using very similar design language and the 911 isn't unique enough. First it was let Porsche sell otter models to have sports car money, blah, blah .... Now, the 911 is morphing into them. Not to mention, say driving on the freeway from a distance back, even I have a hard time reeling which Porsche model I'm rolling up on. Other times I think it's Porsche but a Lincoln.
Not to mention, the prices keep going through the roof with quality shortcuts. Geez, the new center console and steering wheel look so cheap. Alcantara headliner now an option?? Carbon fiber on halo car GT2 RS made in China?? Slap a few new turbos on the same engine and call it a 992 all the while making it more bloated for the sake of cost savings (prep for hybrid and reduce body options). Looking at MSRP's for similar builds from 991.1 to 992 is insane. Back then, a $150K build was on the upper end and totally loaded with every option. Most great builds were $125K-$135K. Now, $150K is nearly the starting point for a decent build.

STG Excellent Points!!!!
The resale values of the 992 with a decent build 150K are gonna take huge dep hit....
What is funny as soon as it gets in customer's hand in few months; I am just gonna see Youtube and see honest reviews - right now everyone got "paid technically" to review it good.

To be more clear as well, the 992 is no doubt a fast car and from all reports a great overall performer.
I think it's obstacles will be the car appealing to everyone emotionally and to their eyes. The second obstacle which will probably be its biggest disadvantage in my opinion is pricing. I think with the shaky market, and more back to reality performance on the horizon this will have a big effect on those spending this kind of coin on cars. The buyers pool for $150K sports car is thinner than the $100K-$120K range. It's all capitalism which is fine, but at what point do they hurt their sales volume for sports cars?
On a side note, the GT model market has definitely cooled off quite a bit as many were buying to flip and try and "drive for free". That honeymoon is over and Porsche cranked out a lot more for the 991.2
They also increased prices quite a bit which killed the flippers margins. Look at the huge hike in PTS alone.

In other news, the 992 GT3 .... no, that's not the real wing. That hideous thing is for testing.
