You've taken a TTS through a significant rain storm and it was a peach. How slow were you going? I've done that in a Base, 4S, GTS, GT3, and TTS.. All five were white knuckle experiences. Standing water? Forget about it. Regardless of what rubber (P Zero, PS4S, Cup2) All four cars needed to stay under 50 mph for peace of mind otherwise the car is skating. Anything but "friendly". Also, on that point the Cup 2's wet traction is greatly underrated.

Also, the topic isn't "relevant to public street driving". See thread title.

Oh Rennlist, you operate in mysterious ways... One day you'll see nothing but TTS bashing posts. Fat pig, yadda yadda yadda.. Now It's the opposite. I'm beginning to learn that my car is an indestructible missile on rails that slays supercars and exotics. I need to see a doctor, my sensories are off.
the speed limit on highways around here is 65. So, yeah. Not 50. And yes it was delightful at speeds in excess of 50. ps4s tires, well maintained, classic 8 lane CA highway. No idea why you’d describe them as white knuckle. Maybe the roads are different in your area. Maybe you need to take better care of your tires. Maybe you just don’t have a lot of experience driving in the rain. Whatever. Not a reflection of these cars. The cup2 tires aren’t great in the wet because (1) their wet stopping distance is much shorter than ps4s and (2) their performance drops off much more quickly in the “cold” and water just sucks heat out of everything. It’s a lot more difficult to keep cup2 in their operating range with standing water or rain. I don’t think of 50 as cold, but cup2 tires do.

As a tts owner, I’ve never bashed it. I really enjoy tracking the GT cars, but consistently tell folks the gts and tts are better all around cars for street driving. The GT cars offer theater that the TTS doesn’t, but the TTS is much much faster off track at basically everything, and more comfortable

Members drive these cars in the snow with proper winter tires. They’re a peach in the rain.

I don’t think that is the car. No crown rally livery and the pics I saw in first post linked article look much worse

Same here. After 1 year i sold my M5C. Unless you have an Autobahn close by, this is a car with too much power given its weight and height. Probably the best car for the Autobahn. I felt a lot safer in an older TT I used to commute with.

Rolling several times, it might have been several seconds before they came to a rest. How long do the belts remain tensioned? If only a second or so, that is a damn good reason to have harnesses and at least a harness bar. I know people who have driven Daytona w/ only stock belts and that scares the heck out of me. A blowout at 165 and you are a goner.
No seatbelts.

Also what is he saying here that if any car has a blowout at that speed the car is going to tumble every time? It can never once safely come to a stop? This true?

Nothing short of a Mason TT would have survived. The section of road it happened on is known to "launch" vehicles.

I have a 991.1 GT3 and don’t find the ride to be too harsh for street use. I do find the lack of parking sensors and cameras an issue though. I am not a track guy, just love the shape of the GT3. I would definitely be happier in a TTS, just can’t get past the intake above rear wheels.

However, that's not to say I do not or could not own a GT3. I would and will. The GT3's rougher more track focused ride would not bother me personally.

What have I said contradicts what you've read on the subject? I'm arguing that the GT3 is safer at the limits, especially going 140mph like the thread title states. What people read and think about the TTS isn't always true. Would I rather be in a TTS in the rain? Sure thing. Still though, any 911 is butt clenching scary in the wet. My TTS on PS4S still hydroplanes like it's on ice on wet surfaces. Even on small amounts of standing water (at highway speeds 60+).
You're a really nice guy, with real world experience - arguing with someone who's 'read' about stuff.

Bang on the TTS is a far superior machine in street conditions. On the track, it IS NOT more competent than a 992 GT3. At the limit, it understeers like crazy and the weight is super noticable. You have to be a FAR better driver to extract the same time from a Turbo S as you would from a GT3. The AWD helps if you break traction and need to recover... but in a 992 GT3, you wouldn't be in that situation in the first place.

Every serious track guy and racecar driver I know laughs at journos. That is the difference between people who DO stuff and READ stuff.

HYpothetically, If someone like me were to drive from 100-180mph in a 992 s cab it's probably on roads that are driven so regularly that they know them like the back of their hand.

Can hypothetically go 150+ with the top down for miles and miles with no issues because doing it on roads that are experienced.

Moronic to drive faster than 80-120 on roads you don't know. and this is coming from a moron who has hypothetically blasted through an LA freeway, the first time there, mid day and night with plenty of traffic, at 130mph, with 4 bald tires. Nothing happened to this hypothetical moron but in hindsight it's not really a great idea is it.
