You can get a better tune that gives you better low end torque and more HP from M-engineering. On the engine, the only real difference is the cams between the RS and the GT3 engine - I've ordered up a set of RS cams to try out on my next build. There are minor differences in oiling as the RS is more track focused, but really changing the cams should make the GT3 performance identical to the RS. Interesting fact is that the heads were a different PN up until 2023, but after that, GT3 and RS share the same heads, pistons, crank block etc.
We can reflash the ECU to the RS software and that might be required for the RS conversion project as it modifies PTV+ and other metrics - we haven't tried this yet, but will report back on progress once I receive all the hardware to try out.

@Shandingo are you going to do it with @Shogunade and I in the DC area? I’m waiting for him to get back from vacation
Short drive, no need to go far away because here everywhere are bad roads and I would say it's much much better. Still sports car stiff but not getting mad stiff each second or km. I would say that now feels like a 911 gts if I well remember. Tomorrow I will take it for the day and then easier to take conclusions but worst it's not 😁

Hey hey - back from a long road trip and then Monterey Car Week (my neck hurts from looking at so many amazing cars - most unique Porsche I saw ). My thanks to @rnlst_log for squeezing in my 911ST suspension recode in the night before I left. It was a little stressful as I was just in my garage with the car on a trickle charger and voltage got down to 13.2V but all went well in the end. If you do get this done, take a shot of courage and ignore all the warnings that flash up on the gauges during the process. There are many warnings but @rnlst_log knows his stuff and will get everything done Oh, and holding down the running lights button for a few seconds turns off the headlights.
So, my brother and I did a good ~300 miles of driving in the car on a mix of smooth and bumpy roads. Mainly cruising but some spirited segments (eg CA152 and Hwy 1 around Halfmoon Bay). We got a good feel for the "new" suspension. I can say that after the recode, pressing the suspension button (ie changing chassis to "Track" from "Sport") definitely has a different feel. With chassis in "Track" it's as it always was, definitely hard and great for track or smooth roads. With the chassis in "sport" (ie its normal mode), there's now a noteable but hard to describe difference. The car is still firm and bumps are heavy. It's definitely still a 911 GT3. The big difference is that the steering is less "jittery" and "brutally exact". If you hit a large bump or, worse, a long crack in the road that goes with the direction of travel, it is less likely to railroad/tram-line or jink you left/right off the road. The result is you can cruise around in a more relaxed way. You can relax your hands a bit on the steering wheel and not have to maintain track style concentration in case a wheel suddenly finds a divot and launches you at a hedge.
Very happy I had the recode done and my thanks to @rnlst_log and @f4bones for all the help. For all those in Bay Area who were looking to get it done too, now that I'm back home I'll ping you directly to check in how you are going.

Just a quick update on the RS functionality conversion project - I received the steering wheel parts today from Protechparts.eu to convert my test steering wheel to the GT3RS configuration - the change requires:
- New controller - 9GT 959 256 A (mode switches won't plug into GT3 controller)
- New mode selectors - 9GT 998 003 A
- New trim (not sure the PN - I purchased a gloss carbon front trim from Protech parts - the existing GT3 trim could be modified) - rear trim the same.
- New multi-function switch units - PN 9GT 998 537 A 6N3 - I believe the existing GT3 versions will work, but the GT3RS has different lettering for DRS, etc. For this first test, I wanted to start with an exact GT3RS wheel configuration.

My hero @f4bones ...
Can't wait to hear if it works
I already got my AF controller, if you and @rnlst_log get it working I will order the rest of the parts and then I will finally install the s/t lightweight flywheel and clutch that have been sitting in the corner of the garage...
will have to figure out what to do with the shift paddles on the r/s steering wheel lol

First one in Korea AND Asia. Except for this "Driving Light Control Error - Status Temporary Driving Permitted" error that popped up (and should go away?), ride is noticeably improved when driving in narrow alleyway, local roads and highway! Thank you @rnlst_log!
