GT3RS Allocation Thread

Fit and finish is not comparable to any porsche, I mean even a macan forget 911 GT3RS. I had a C8 Z06 with Z07 order that actually arrived and I refused delivery. It had almost a dozen fit and finish issues including delamination of carbon fiber pieces (including roof), a tear on the dash by passenger airbag, and horrendously not straight stitching everywhere. You get what you pay for. I could have gotten this car for msrp in its state and flipped it for profit but it annoyed me so much that I said **** it, I cant deal with the car, the dealer, and your typical corvette buyer who would be buying the car. I left the car like that and said never again.

I wouldn't buy a C8 if it were $50k, I've seen 3 in person and the fit/finish were all junk. Sounds like you got lucky with yours.

You again. We already heard your rant, lol. Nobody cares. I got what I paid for, it's a great car, and fit and finish is very good. I said it wasn't a Porsche, and I wasn't expecting it to be, but I'm happy with everything. I own 4 Porsches, so pretty sure I know what I'm talking about. Sorry America wasn't up to your lofty standards.
Have you been to Germany? I’m not sarcastically asking. I suggest you spend 24-48 hours in any German city, see their roads, airports, even police cars. Then this mystery of Porsche/BMW/Benz vs american cars no longer will be mystery. They are very **** and ocd on everything they do and we are far more chilled and relax and have the mental mode of “lets not make perfectly smooth roads, they’ll get destroyed every other year, we’ll patch it and repave it” or “build a house thats easy to rebuild/tear down every hurricane, flood, or new mom around the house with a new pet project”. Its a very different philosophy. Those guys over there paved their roads so precisely that you cant see joints anywhere, no cracks, even those manhoe covers we have here (I call them suspension killers because of how stupidly uneven they are here) there are perfectly level with the road. If you stand by next to a sidewalk where it meets a road, in US you’ll see a petri dish of crumbled asphalt, dirt, along with trash and in germany, you could picnic there. Its that clean. And I am not even talking about autobahn where you are driving 120 mph and their fast trains pass you lol. I am talking about city roads.
So back to this Corvette vs Porsche thing. Its all about expectations. These cars are simply not comparable. And so are the people buying them wrt to their expectations from things. Its apples and grapes. After my recent trip to stuttgart, I actually think Porsche is too cheap for what you get.

To each their own. Probably the wrong forum to tout a vet. You never get what you don’t pay for.

I’d rather ride a schwinn than drive a new corvette

I got to "right seat" in a Z06 in a couple of hot laps with a semi-pro driver, and the thing is a beast. Sounds infinitely better than any Porsche GT product (past or present). Winner winner V8 Chicken Dinner!
You will love the car.
Who cares what anyone else says.
As long as you love it, that's all that matters.
Your car, your money, your life.
Congrats and enjoy in good health.

I was put on the Z06 list @ MSRP in 2021 and was told “at least 2024” I sent 3 emails in 3 years and each time the reply was that it would be a long wait and to not ask again.
Never heard from again.
Just as well, the GT4RS and GT3RS arrived in 2023, and I forgot about Z06..

Cultural differences definitely influence how engineering is done, and German engineering is among the best in the world. But even then, given how much we Americans love cars and driving, it's surprising that no American manufacturer has been able to make a sports car which truly rivals Porsche.
The Corvette is an iconic American sports car, and I've wanted one for decades. I'm rooting for Team America. The only reason I haven't gotten one for the track is that I've routinely seen Corvettes in the paddock with their hood up, unable to go on track because of mechanical or electrical issues. If they've solved that problem and the car is now as reliable as Porsches (which are not entirely bulletproof!), I'll definitely be interested.

Stating facts about a car does not make one a hater. I saw junk interior and exterior quality in person, on multiple of the same car. Didn't say anything about it's performance.

Well My 3RS is on the SFL Composer due at the dealership 5/19. Anyone else have a car or a Rs on this ship?
‘’I feel lucky to have the car coming I tried so damn hard to get it.
