GT3RS Allocation Thread

Hey everyone, thought I'd close the loop on my own allocation, a '24 Weissach on European delivery. Some photos below. The Werkswagen experiece was great, and a quick 1500kms in Germany with the break-in done. This car is absolutely amazing, and I drove in a 2-hour downpour with PSCup 2's without incident. The refinement of this vehicle is superb, and with the track-mode hack (set -4 on dampers all around) the vehicle is more comfortable than an GT3 around bumpy roads. The steering response at high speed is like a superpower, and the brakes have firm but not violent bite with a very progressive pedal. And Ice Gray...I was a bit on the fence having never seen it on a 992 in person, but I can say now that the configurator and online pictures totally fail to capture its subtlety and dynamic nature.
In short, it's kind of magical. -hyp

Not sure if there's a better thread to ask, so I'll ask here: have any of you guys compared 992 GT3 vs 3RS on road and/or track?

not yet - but I should be able to compare GT3 Touring vs. my RS on same track same day here in the next few months once shipping logistics are behind me/us…

Nice spec!! I have a similar combo Iced with red wheels and yellow calipers, looks like I made the right choice. My just started production, haven't seen the photos from TYD. Arriving date to dealer got push back a week, that's on top of 6 months delay and waiting for over a year.

Begin to warm to white and arctic with red details, reminds me of happy times with my 996 many moons ago. Our 992 was end Dec 22 delivery, didn’t get it before begin May 23. They came in batches here in EUR, still don’t see many cars. Doubt Porsche will build a ton of them. They are so busy with all the other “specials” and 992.2 about to kick off. Genuinely also like the think they put some thoughts into trying to avoid the flippers as much as possible. It really is a superb track-day car less so a road car

On a related note, I asked the Porsche guys there to include Fred, which of the two cars will be kinder on tires all things being equal. All asked said the RS because while the downforce is higher pushing the tires downward, this may create blisters (unlikely depending on driver and weather) but reduces the side to side slide the GT3 will endure. Side to side slide movement creates the heat and marbles producing quicker wear. I am not an engineer so take this for what it is worth.
Fred is awesome!

When I was at the Red Bull Ring a few weeks ago with Porsche's Masters GT3 RS program, Fred Makowiecki (Works Driver, 963 LMDh) took a GT3 out then took a GT3 RS out back to back. I asked him that night what his thoughts were between the two. His answer was not surprising. Both cars have amazing turn-in ability and provide immediate confidence. The rear end in the GT3 is not as planted as the GT3 RS wherein the RS can handle both a crisp turn-in at higher speed knowing the rear end will also comply. This is because of aero, wider tires, and overall better grip. In the GT3, he said you had to be ready to deal with the rear end of the GT3 when driving at or over the limit. Both cars had Cup 2 (Not R). Additionally, for the RS, you brake later and harder, downshift immediately, and get off the brake as quickly as possible to return the car to neutral (no rake) to take full advantage of the aero into and out of the apex before going back to throttle. This doesn't work in really slow corners but mid to high speed corners this works and the carry speed is higher than the GT3 and the previous GT3 RS.

I'm also interested in how the cars compare in terms of the fun factor on both road and track - playfulness, sound, shifting character, steering feel, overall rawness, etc.

I’ve taken our 992 RS round Zandvoort at full push pace, it’s almost on par with 991 Cup. Some sectors it’s quicker, the elevated and bendy sectors it’s more planted. High speed braking it matches the Cup on slicks. The 992 RS defies all logic, can’t think of any road car that impresses me the same. Can’t wait to get the GT2RS

I assume the GT3 (992) does this as well, but in Track Mode, the RS will Upshift for you at exactly 9k while allowing you to control/manual Downshifts while braking but PDK system reverts immediately back to auto Upshifts as soon as you go back to wide open throttle without any driver changes/involvement. Also, seeing the rear wing open in your side mirror is pretty cool. The sound of the exhaust on track and the sound of the shifts in the RS seems like a step forward compared to my 19' RS and a bit more violent than the GT3 (992). I have driven a GT3 (992) on track just not at Red Bull. The RS (992) to me is a weapon completely controllable, communicative, and predictable from braking, to entry to exit... so much fun to see where the limits are and once there assuming you crept up easily fixable and exploitive.

Update - the RS arrived at dealer yesterday…. Won’t see it in person for a while but here are the initial pics. Should get more pics next week. White, WP, Pyro, and Silver/Gray Decals.
No idea who the looking loos are
Looks like the gray decals with red wheels may actually work together.

Offered RS at MSRP if I trade my MT PTS 992 GT3 in at around MSRP. Not sure if I want PDK again.
is this the last pure ICE 3RS? Should I do it?
