Since you're considering the 2017, turbos are ok with you. If you can wait, order a new GTS to your specs.

Or, if you can't wait, get either one and trade it in on a new GTS.

Two things I did not like with my 997.2 GTS were center lock wheels and alcantara. I test drove a GTS with 30k mile and the alcantara was worn off on the steering wheel and gear shifter. Plus, you can't get ventilated seats with the alcantara. And the center locks were just a pain. I had to buy the tools to remove them and then put them in the frunk. Were they deal breakers? No, but it was hard to find a GTS without those two options.

If your GTS does not the have CL wheels and alcantara, nice find.

Get a really nicely optioned 991.1S or if you want the wider fenders get a 4S and save tons of money that you can spend on mods or track time. That's what I did.
You're only being "controversial" because you might want to be by using that word together with "scam". If you just called it something like a "marketing effort" you'd simply be stating an non-controversial fact. And while I don't disagree with you about the 30 extra HP, that point would stand out more if accompanied by a corresponding lack of additional torque and minor increase in red line RPMs. Anyway, good points!

Thanks to everyone for the valuable responses. Well, the 991.1 GTS was sold yesterday before I could act, so I'll need to re-assess my options. I do like the 991.2 S, so I may take it for another test drive and perhaps also try to find a GTS to test again (this may not be easy).

My vote is GTS. It's much more special in a number of ways and judging by the response here, will be more desirable (= holds value) for years to come.

Not surprised the GTS sold before you had a chance to buy it. It's a keeper.

Not surprising that the GTS sold quickly. That should tell you something.

Obviously, the GTS, one more thing that makes it special is you can brag about it on Rennlist, Or you could really set a trend and pull the turbos off of the .2 and have a NA .2, that'd be really special........ it'd be really slow, but the NA guys would love you.

disclaimer....... I have a .2 base on order so take that as you will.

This is all just a joke........so I hope nobody gets all excited......

It really is a matter of taste. I, for one, am a big NA enthusiast. I have driven the "real" Porsche turbo, the 911 Turbo S and I did not like the way it drove or sounded. The 991.1 GTS was my wheelhouse in terms of power delivery, sound and overall driving experience. One is not better than the other, but one is certainly better for me!

Well said.

That's the beauty of the 911 - it can be configured for all types and preferences.
