Yes, my "forever" car this time (and I truly said it) lasted one year and a few months - my 2015 Cayman.

I have never said that about any car except my 2016 991.1 GTS. What would I trade it in for? I have always wanted a 911 and this appears, sadly, to be the last NA 911 Carrera. I would not trade it in for a TT or a little turbo. Unless Porsche changes their stance and returns to the large displacement NA 911, why trade my car? That is not to say I will not buy another car. All I am saying is that I do not see any Porsche 911 that I would trade my car for with the exception of the 911 R. I do not see myself coming into that kind of money any time soon so my 991.1 GTS will have to do. Now, the Aston Martin Vanquish V12 with a manual transmission would be very tempting. It probably does not handle as well as the 991 but it's a beautiful, classic-looking car.

Well said, DrCGuerra - I am right there with you. I am not a turbo engine kind of guy. I wanted an NA 911 that could be a daily driver but could be a monster on the open road as well. The 991.1 GTS is just that car for me. And I am a cabriolet guy, so for the foreseeable future, the 3.8 L 424 hp 991.1 GTS will be the most powerful NA 911 cabriolet ever produced. Cabriolet or coupe - either way, the car is a keeper.

This forum is filled with luddites. (go for the '17, you can drive the NA guys crazy because they will have to listen to your "quiet" PSE, they will have no choice, they'll be behind you. )

If it was all about speed, I would agree with you. If I was looking at just speed, I would have bought mine with a PDK. Instead, I bought mine with a MT. It's about experiencing the car. As the saying goes, "It's not the destination but the journey that matters".

Like I had stated before, both GTS and 2017 C2S are fantastic cars. To me, the GTS felt more fun all the way to the upper range revs, even though the 2017 had more torque early on. In addition, there will be many more 911s with turbo engines made, but none with NA engines (except maybe GT3). These are the points that tipped the scale towards GTS for me.

JustBud - I am glad that your car is faster. The less time I have to hear that annoying turbo whistle, the better. Blow right by me, thank you very much!

I have an F150 right now (yup, that's FI too, EcoBoost 2.7) but I do have a .2 base coming so I still won't be faster than a GTS ..... I am just giving grief to all the NA guys (I find it comes at a higher ratio from the GTS guys specifically) that rip on the FI cars. Speed (and track times) is/are important when they let us know they have a .1 GTS (in fact, some even want their own subsection here for their trim level) but then speed doesn't matter when they compare their cars to the FI models...... all of a sudden it becomes more about the sound (see your post above) , the experience and so on a so forth..... YMMV (although turbo cars do get better mileage )

I have never wavered from my position. That is, I was never looking for the fastest car or quickest around the track. The 991.1 GTS is fast enough with a MT. Dropping 0.4 seconds for 0-60 MPH was not important to me. I just love driving the car because it excites all my senses. The way it looks, drives, feels, and sounds (okay not all my senses since I don't taste or smell my car). If you do, make an appointment at my office or your nearest psychiatrist. I hope you love your 991.2 as much as I love my car.

I should clarify if I'm being taken too seriously...... I'm just having fun, period. I really like the .1 GTS. I just am excited about getting my first Porsche. I've desired a 911 since I was 15, you can turn those numbers around now to know it's taken me a while to be able to get one, so I'll take one either NA or FI.

By the way, I plan on enjoying my car immensely, I hope you all do too.

Faster, lol. Subarus and Hondas "beat" me all the time. If I tracked, I'd have a track car. The 911 is such a great car because it's also enjoyable on the street where speed is pretty far down the list in what you enjoy.

You'll never beat a P-class Tesla anyway, even with your turbo. Or even the non-baby turbo for that matter--the new P100D crushes everything in 0-60.

The person who wants the 991.2 because of "speed" is the same person who would turn up their nose at a Singer. Me, I'd take a Singer over a 911R even.

Congratulations and welcome to the family. I am probably a little older than you and I have wanted a Porsche 911 since I was 12 when, ironically, I saw a 1975 Turbo with that huge whale tail. I am sure if I was in your situation, I would be just has happy and pumping up my car's virtues. I was just fortunate enough to get Porsche to unlock a dealer's ordered 991.1 GTS so that I could order it to my specs. Otherwise, I would not have pulled the trigger and kept my Cayman GTS. Anyone wanting a new 911 will have to buy a turbo. You cannot fault someone if they want a new 911 vs. a used one. I was unwilling to spend that kind of money unless I got a car built to my specs. I would have had a hard time finding a 991.1 GTS that was close to my build. In other words, if I wasn't fortunate to buy my current car, I would have eventually bought a 991.2 or 992 when I wanted to upgrade to a 911. Enjoy your car in good health.
