18604432]As I remember Musicar quit selling these tweeters? Is there currently a source for these?
So I got around to installing these tweeters today. Very crisp sound, but I did not get the center speaker disconnected. Is the grill around the speaker and Sports Chrono just a straight forward pop up, like the tweeter grills, or does anything on the dash have to be dismantled? I got the front loose but working around the sides was really tight and I didn’t want to force anything.
I also got the Softronic tune flashed to the ecu. Went for about a 30 mile drive, as they say it takes about 30 miles for the ecu to forget the old tune/learn the new one. Anxious to get it out more tomorrow while we have clear weather
Bought new Lloyd’s mats in black with red deviated stitching for the front (needed something to offset the RED interior) and received my GTA Car Kits CarPlay module (self-install next week). Also ordered side (door) decal set from a fellow Rennlister.

You just pry up the Sports Chrono trim and then disconnect the wire to the speaker. The tabs are tight in the middle so it takes some pressue with a plastic interior tool.

Thank you for that. I thought that was the case but it was really tight, thought it worth the wait to double check. Not doing so in the past has warranted less than desired results. 😀

To disconnect the middle speaker wire is it necessary to unscrew the three screws holding the speaker in and disconnect from underneath the speaker? I see a wire running back there but don’t see a connector I can undo. I’ve loosened the three acres holding the speaker in, but the speaker is not budging at all so far.
Edit: I did loosen the three screws and disconnected. I just took the speaker out and didn’t put it back in.

I had to unscrew the center speaker to discount too after I got my Musicar tweeter. Sounds so much better. I left the center speaker in, cuz I’d lose it otherwise. Guess that wouldn’t really matter much in hindsight. Maybe I’ll get a better speaker and retro fit for the center.
Blackmill makes a great product and takes seconds to install. This is of particular importance if you have a 991.1 where the actual part replacement involves messing with the door panel and frankly fairly involved work for such a small detail. Now, if you have a 991.2 (I do and bought these), check these out: https://awe-tuning.com/collections/f...67238&iuf=true It's a true replacement part as opposed to a stick-on part. I only encourage these if you have a 991.2 because the install is still only minutes (unlike the 991.1) and you are replacing the entire factory part.
The Blackmills version eliminates the buffeting, even at track speeds. That may not be important if you never track. But based on anecdotal reports, the buffeting is much less with Blackmills.
Better shots of my car now that I'm pretty much done!
