Want to add my results here:

I did the install last week - 2.5 hours labor at my dealer, I know a rip but no trim fit issues

Shift effort: I'd estimate the spring rate is ~50% higher moving the shifter side to side as you engage a gear. Great, but more than a subtle change as some have indicated.

Shifter height - perfect in our cars, harder throws due to lower shifter but I like it - seems like 3/4 inch lower but I haven't measured it.

Gate accuracy - feels much more accurate than before, easy to find 3, 4,5 , 6, 7 versus old shifter. Very "notchy" now - I like it but some may find it too short or high effort

I paid $270 from Europe for the part, so happy with a $700 upgrade.

Hi I'm interested in doing this mod but had a few questions for those that did:

1. I've noticed with the current stock GTS shifter that I have the throws sometimes have a nice 'synchromesh' feel to it, especially when I shift slowly; however, other times I feel an what I can best describe as unsatisfactory 'plastic-cheap' feel to the shifts which I really dislike. Does changing to this shifter ameliorate the issue at all?

2. Are any special tools needed to do the mod myself aside from a standard set of tools such as a wrench and screwdriver?

3. Where is the best place to purchase?

Thanks!

1) The shifting feels more precise and a bit notchey. More effort and more feel for the gates.

2) Need a torx screwdriver. Nothing more.

3) Sunset Porsche in OR. Save over $100 compared to Suncoast.

Here you go. http://www.sunsetporscheparts.com/oe...he/98142401020

It is the GT4 shifter. Same thing as the one at Suncoast.

Thanks.

I have one more question: does installing this shifter alter the car warranty in any way?

Thanks for the advice. I placed my order from Sunset Porsche and have an appointment to get it installed at BBI Autosport next Friday! Hopefully it arrives in time for my install appointment.

Awesome. Good luck. You'll enjoy the more refined shifting mechanism.

The guys from Sunset reminded me that the GT4 is a 6spd manual rather than a 7spd. Seems kind of odd that it works ok in the 991, but so many people have done it, I guess it works? Thanks.

It works. The shifting mechanism has nothing to do with the number of gears. Can't go into detail right now as I have to go into a meeting. Perhaps others can chime in.

Might be a dumb question, So can you still shift into 7th gear with it?

Great! Thanks everyone. Good to put that question to bed! I'll report back on my experience next week!
