Was just about to revive this thread.
I've had the SSK on for a little more than a month, and overall I've been ok with it but I was hoping it would loosen up a bit as well but it doesn't seem to have - if anything, it feels like it has become 'tighter.' I wonder if the GT4 (or 911 R if anyone has driven one) has the same level of effort involved.
Don't get me wrong, I still like it, but just curious..

Have had it installed now for 6 months. Love what it does for shifter feel. More direct shorter throws and feels more tight. So far loving it. It is from the GT4 i believe.
Suncoast was higher priced than $299. I got mine from Sunset Porsche for $269 i believe when Suncoast was still over $300.

Been using the gt4 ssk on my gts now for about 2 months. I have some initial impressions above.
After 2 months, I still like the shorter throws but am finding the slight increase in effort to be a little tiring in traffic. My question is can this be ameliorated somewhat with a heavier, weightier aftermarket gear shift ****? Ive seen the classic **** and others for sale here. I know it is nitpicking but would be great to keep the short throws while also being able to decrease the effort - having my cake and eating it too

I'll have to look at my stock shifter tomorrow, but I am not sure if it would be possible to replace the spring. Looks like some of the mechanism is riveted together.
If you look at these pics, the stock shifter (green dot) has no spring whereas on the lower right side of the shifter, you can see the triple coil of the spring.

In all seriousness I just had mine installed and I can't say I think it's that much stiffer than stock? I wonder if they changed the unit but mine is pretty good especially when warmed up it's smooth, not that much more resistance than stock.

The side movement is where I tend to have the issue - particularly putting it in reverse.
One thing I did note was I agree with jlee, as the car warms up or if the temps are not so low (<40F) it is easier to shift. Maybe it's just the oncoming winter weather thats got me feeling this way.

i have no problems with R (why are you using R in traffic?)
I do have problems with 7th. I never can get to it now but i stopped using it and my concerns went away!
I have no problems between 1-6...the first week it was stiff but after that its been awesome.

Not sure I'm getting all the concern about the stiffness. It is a tighter feel which is what I expected and wanted with the mod but I don't think it interferes with driving/shifting at all.
I have had other short shifters on previous P cars and this acts just the same way. I have had it for around 7-8 months and really like it.
