If I were to do it again, I'd make sure I had an assistant. Trying to slide the PCM out and disconnect the plugs from the rear proved to be undoable; ended up leaving it connected and balancing it on a box on the pax side. Other than that, the shifter **** removal was the only tough part. Lots of gnashing of teeth.

Common dealer gouge rate - I paid it too as I couldn't bear the thought of scraping leather when removing all of that trim.
And I've done a shift **** removal before - serious black eye potential!
$500 well spent in my book.

Just finished installation (dealer only charged 2 hours labor - well worth it if you are not mechanically inclined or don't have the time).
Just took it out for an extended drive this morning. My impressions:
1. First thing I noticed is how much firmer the shifter feels in general - a nice kinda firm.
2. Lower profile looks aesthetically better to me (subjective).
3. Throws are definitely more precise and pithy (will this improve my 0-60 times? - I think so)
4. For some reason the steering feels slightly different to me as well. It has improved feedback, less 'loose.' Could be because I was driving a Cayenne loaner for 4 days.
5. Back to shifter: Shifting from 5-6 is still an issue, with occasional shifts into 4th instead, but is somewhat ameliorated with this kit.
6. Fun factor increased.
7. Worth every penny.

Which dealer did you go to? I plan to do this over the holidays if I have time. Did you bring them the part or order from suncoast?

Guys, don't waste money paying the dealer to do it, when you can do it in the time it takes to go drive the car there and pick it up. Its super easy!

Did this install last night and this morning. Took me between 2 and 2.5 hours. That was being very careful, taking pictures, and the inevitable delay of stopping overnight and having to re-group in the morning. If I did it again, 90 minutes tops.
Took the car out for a quick spin this morning and I must say that the transformation definitely noticeable, in a very good way. It doesn't completely change the character of the car or anything, but I would say that it's definitely worth it. I find it easier to locate the lateral gates, and you are NOT going into reverse by accident, lol.
I'm going to do a full write up thread with pics of the install when I have some time to put it together. I'll put some additional thoughts on the mod there. But I'll just say that for $275 shipped and a few hours of labor, it's totally worth it. It's definitely a change for the better.

Other than that, I agree with all of your points above, except one. I'd say that I didn't find the 5-6 shift to be an issue at all, and actually found it to be a little better than before. In fact, the 7-5 direct downshift was much easier than the old shifter...I didn't end up in 3rd.
