I've got entry and drive on my 991.1 4S. You don't really lose on the ritual, since the ignition slot is still there, and you turn it like a normal key. You're only missing fishing the key out of your pocket and inserting it. Which, actually, I had to do once, because the fob battery was weak and the only way I could start the car was to remove the fake plastic key and replace it with the real one.

I like having it, but I wouldn't say it was a dealbreaker if I ever replaced the car. It cuts down on key-fiddling a bit, but you're still doing things like pressing the door button to lock, palming the frunk to unlock that, and of course pulling out the keys to deal with the house and garage locks.

I don't want me having been bored for a morning and posting reasonable deals misinterpreted as a collapsing market.

Keep posting! Reasonable deals are out there.

There's just an imbalance of asking prices out there lately with some dealers being too aggressive. Seeing pre-owned GTS's at only $10K off or less MSRP and $90K-$95K cars that should be like $5K-$10K cheaper are some examples.

That's pretty funny

The thing is the 991.1 is a very desirable model for that price point. Much better deal than the new ones, and potential 718 buyers straying our way.

Another factor, I hear BMW sales really are "collapsing"! I know ALOT of BMW guys have and continue to jump ship to Porsche. I'm sure they discuss HFS somewhere on those forums possibly. Sick of the turbo zingers and want a taste of old school here.

Private sale. Car looks really clean. I've never seen the SS exhaust option before. $46k off sticker

this looks nearly new - and if it checks out would be a phenomenal deal.

Lurker here. For the most part I don't think this thread has helped too much. If anything it has perpetuated a feeding frenzy for cars that are reasonable priced. Now a reasonably priced car posted here will get more eyes on it and thus more offers and results in driving the prices up. That said, the Porsche market as a whole has been trending upward, so how much this thread is actually responsible is debatable. Also there is always bit of a bias on people who own 991 vs those that are shopping. Owners want to see prices go up and those shopping want to see them go down. Some of that bias is clear here, especially in statement like "don't miss out over a few thousand dollars" which encourages people to over pay.

I think there is a correction coming. It can be seen in classic cars prices though the hagerty trends. Post war German collectibles are beginning a down swing, but are still very high. The cyclical swing as summer ends is coming too. You can see it in google trends below. The problem here is that as less people buy in winter months there is also less inventory. You can see the sinusoidal uptick every spring in google searches for "Porsche 911" below. We're just about at the peak now, so searches will be trending down shortly. Will prices? I'm thinking they will as well, but only time will tell.

edit, one interesting thing is you can see the 991 release in 2012 uptick in the chart

We see way TOO MUCH price speculation on the GT boards. Here, all we can do is look at the current market and give advice accordingly.

The pricing talk started when I started getting comments like "STG that's not too hot of a price". I responded by noting I was just looking at the current state of the market which has drifted higher.

I could really care less about values. Reasonable ones keep things fun here. Overpriced cars do not. In a market with limited supply of great cars, "don't lose it over a couple grand" is good advice. You know how many times someone has hesitated and lost out?? Didn't move fast enough? Too many to count. I hear all the stories.

The reality of the fact, is that the amount of cars out there is at a very low level which causes stronger prices.

I've stated over and over again, that there is a bubble in the car market and economy overall. A correction is inevitable.

* Mattyf, thanks for the post and your opinions. Appreciate the Google info.

Maybe run, Porsche 991.1, Rennlist, used Porsche 991.1, rennlist hot for sale?

How about Porsche GT3?

Curious on the info!

Thanks

All is good. Nice postings and finds

I'm sure "the one" will come up soon. You're very much in tune to the market
