^^^ nice find on the GTS!
In other thoughts .... Let's leave the buying dilemmas for the main boards. Multiple posts on what color interior should I settle with is better suited on another thread. Not trying to be rude, but we'd like to stay somewhat focused here. I see 100 post threads on the main board about the most trivial buying decisions. At that point, everyone has an opinion and knows best.

Note for people monitoring CArMax - keep checking back in your searches, as if the person who reserves the car doesn't buy it then it will come back up for sale - and doesn't show as an alert.
For example, that Lime Gold one is back after a month!

I am very close to backing out of a private sale (losing my $500 deposit and $250 for a PPI) because of the interior color of the car, luxor beige. I was blinded by excitement when I drove it and thought I could learn to live with the beige but as I get closer to the actual purchase I am having serious second thoughts.
The car is in excellent shape, is local, has low mileage and optioned just how I wanted (Sport chrono, PSE, heated/vented seats, upgraded BOSE etc), but the damn beige is killing me. I'm really torn on this, because I know to get what I really want I will have to start the search all over again and go though all the hassle of PPI and negotiation.
On the other hand, if I could accept the interior color I would be getting a low mileage car at a decent price, optioned exactly as I want, except for the interior.
Its a 2012, 9500 miles, out of warranty. The original MSRP was $117k. We agreed on $70K. No issues found with the PPI.
Just venting and wondering what you guys think, has anyone else made a concession on a 991 like this and did you learn to live with it?

There's LOTS of these cars out there. Hold out for the one you want. Besides, the hunt is at least half the fun!

If you are going to back out, maybe post up the details here... If the PPI was clean, sounds like a pretty decent deal, maybe you can transfer the deal to another RL'er and recover your deposit and PPI fee?

Yeah, I'm very opinionated on my own likes, but try and avoid judging others likes/dislikes on many subjective things like colors. I can appreciate many things, but might not necessarily want to own them.
We obviously have a very diverse group here.

This is a great forum, thank you.
One of the things that has kept me from pulling the trigger on a 991, though, is that it seems as if there are fewer truly individualized cars out there than there were with 997s. With the 997s it seems like one could get more individualized with the interiors, and more people took advantage of the individual/Porsche Exclusive options. Contrast stitching is now included in some of the two tone interiors, but outside of those I've yet to see it ordered on a 991. Maybe people now are necessarily more focused on checking the boxes for the mechanical options that weren't available before......PDCC, PDK (which wasn't introduced until 997.2 and there was a lot of distrust of it) rear wheel steering and the like. And with rising prices maybe people aren't apt to try to get too cute. But it seems as if 95% of the 991s fall into pretty predictable builds: Black, white, or gray, PDK, Sport Chrono, and Bose. Thoughts?

The 997.2 was out during some bad economic times and probably less "dealer builds" as you describe.
The 991 has been a huge hit, and these "dealer builds" are ones that get ordered with reasonable MSRP's, but definitely not strippers.
Dealers have a hard time moving very high MSRP over optioned cars. Those are usually custom orders by customers. Many customers realize they get killed on resale with too many options and maybe hold back a bit. Plus new 911's aren't cheap. Sticking to a reasonable budget isn't bad either.
Also ... I think a lot of leases out there too. Higher the MSRP, the higher the payment.
Really, with the right performance options, the rest is just icing on the cake. Nice to have, but not a necessity for most. The excessive Exclusive options are $$$$$$. Return at resale is very low on them. As low as 0% sometimes.
Even things like PCCB's. Dealers will give $0 credit for them on a trade.
