I don't know people -- the full red is pretty cool, especially with the silver or white outside. Every time you sit in your car it'll feel like you are in some porno movie. But one can get sick of that, of course...
I never got sick of it in 4 yrs of ownership. It felt special every time I got in. Now, when I shop for a new 911, it kind of ruins it for the rest of the interiors......hmm, black? Boring and hot. Tan? Boring, old man-ish, and likely to get dirty. Not a good color for a Porsche. Blue? No thanks. Somehow I always come back to red.......it's the perfect color for a car that reminds you of all the butt you had to kick to earn your way I to that interior.

I am very close to backing out of a private sale (losing my $500 deposit and $250 for a PPI) because of the interior color of the car, luxor beige. I was blinded by excitement when I drove it and thought I could learn to live with the beige but as I get closer to the actual purchase I am having serious second thoughts.
The car is in excellent shape, is local, has low mileage and optioned just how I wanted (Sport chrono, PSE, heated/vented seats, upgraded BOSE etc), but the damn beige is killing me. I'm really torn on this, because I know to get what I really want I will have to start the search all over again and go though all the hassle of PPI and negotiation.
On the other hand, if I could accept the interior color I would be getting a low mileage car at a decent price, optioned exactly as I want, except for the interior.
Its a 2012, 9500 miles, out of warranty. The original MSRP was $117k. We agreed on $70K. No issues found with the PPI.
Just venting and wondering what you guys think, has anyone else made a concession on a 991 like this and did you learn to live with it?

Easy - STOP what you are doing right now. Back out. You better love it all, but concessions should not be on the interior color, too hard to change that! I have Luxor Beige and I enjoy it, but it goes well with my exterior and interior trim. Follow that intuition!

Then I actually sat in some cars, and I found that I didn't mind those "Meh" or "Awful" colors. I came to appreciate Luxor Beige, Carrera Red, Espresso/Cognac, Pebble Grey, etc.
The only color that I still can't abide, however, is Yachting Blue.

I have luxor beige. It's a great color (especially with the red contrasting stitching the original buyer ordered). Black floor mats keep the one area that would likely get dirty clean. Not a color I would have ordered had I built the car myself, but after living with it for a few months now, it stays nice and cool, the car is very bright inside, and I love the contrast for the red gauges, seatbelts, and stitching over it; it would be hard to go back to basic black at this point, I really like it! I might swap to a black steering wheel at some point as well, just easier to keep clean. The whole windshield reflection thing is totally overblown; I don't usually even notice it, and if I were to, polarized sunglasses really shouldn't be an issue for anyone buying a car that expensive (my Tacoma has oak interior, as most all of the Gen 1 Tacos do, and same thing, dash color just isn't an issue once you have driven it). Things that would drive me crazy are lack of SC, S-PASM, PSE; that is why I am buying the car, not because of an interior color. Same thing with the exterior: Guards Red isn't my first choice, but this car was in perfect condition, even for a low-mileage car, it had the Aerokit Cup, was priced right, and even though it isn't my first choice, I simply am boggled by the number of compliments I get. Not like it is that McDonalds' car on the other forum; that would be a tougher sell.
As far as colors I may not be able to stand: possibly the full red (it's so incredibly red, and my SO would get literally nauseous driving a car w/full red interior for some reason). Blue is kind of weird, but hey, I could live with that.
I always say (and this is from dealing with very picky customers, people who really do get into the "paralysis by analysis"): don't let the perfect be the enemy of the very good. The perfect may never come along. Getting 97% of the enjoyment of a great car that might not have exactly the color you want is much better than missing out and getting 0% enjoyment on a mythical perfect car.

When I started my search, I almost compromised what I really wanted for a good deal. But, when I thought about driving my car every day, I knew that I would always wish I had gotten exactly what I was looking for. It took some more time, but now every time I get in my car, I'm completely happy. If you're not 100% into the interior, don't do it. Wait for the build you really want.

I agree with this - you have got to love your interior color. I wasn't sure about platinum grey (preferred black) but I don't mind it. I cannot stand beige interiors and if I had to look at one all the time I would be constantly reminded that I compromised. Lots of 991s out there for sale - I would keep looking...

Hey DUB, I understand what you are going through - better to stop now and cut your losses than have buyers remorse for the next n years! I nearly pulled the trigger on a Racing Yellow 991 TTS - the color kept me awake at night - I bailed. I now have a Carmine Red 991 GTS with, yes, the grey/black Alcantara/Leather, but with the GTS interior red stitching etc. To me black is just too black, but some contrasting stuff looks great, belts, dials...etc
One other thing, you don't mention the exterior color, in my mind that does have an impact too. Beige can look outstanding against dark blue, for example. One other thing to keep in mind, I know some people say the beige dash reflects against the windshield and that can be a visability issue.
Good luck...go to a P dealer, grab a coffee and sit inside a few for 10 mins, switch, come back, repeat. You will soon know what "light's you up".
