Made an account just to say this: Great find STG! Those VINs are hex encoded. Run a VIN like WP0AA2A98GS106477 through a site like http://www.convertstring.com/EncodeDecode/HexEncode and you'll get 5750304141324139384753313036343737!

Enjoy!

919 was our hero. I believe his info tipped off k997 who was offline until then. Doubt the same guys ???? Regardless, VIN Analytics is a great site.

what would be a good target price for this one?
5200 miles
cpo
They're currently asking $113,395. I have a purchase history with the particular dealership if that helps at all.

Hi everyone! New member here and have been looking for a 991 for a while no rush but rather looking for a great deal. I am currently driving a Macan Turbo and Tesla Model X. Just wanted to get a 991 for more fun...so don't need much or luxury/cosmetic options. I found one on craigslist:

2013 C4S. MSRP: $143K asking $80K. Assume everything looks good, what is the good price for this one? Thanks advance.

Looks like could be a scam and stolen pics. Get a VIN #

Showing house and garage pics but they're a advertising as a small dealer. Craigslist has so many dirtbag scammers.

Question for the group.

On a PTS car, does anyone know if the build sheet from vin analytics would include the price of the PTS in it's MSRP?

Reason I ask is I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a PTS Car. If I build the same spec on the Porsche website WITHOUT the PTS option it basically equals what the vin analytics build sheet says is the MSRP was. That makes me think that it isn't adding in the PTS fee as part of the MSRP and that the actual sticker price would have been 8k+ higher.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Yes, build sheet includes the PTS cost in MSRP.

PTS for 991.2's went up significantly in $$$. Can't recall before and after exact cost now. Like doubled or more. Why you're seeing a discrepancy. Also, overall Porsche prices pretty much increase every year.

Just to be clear, the build sheets aren't from Vin Analytics... They have created a website that simplifies and front-ends the back door into the Porsche dealer system that allows retrieving build sheets. Nice service, mind you, it saves you from having to convert alphanumeric to hex, cut and paste, etc., but it's all Porsche data.

STGs correct, the MSRP will include the PTS in it. Prices have increased a lot for PTS, so you can't compare a 2018/2019 build to whatever you're looking at.

Are they somehow converting or compiling this info for anything? I think he mentioned they are storing build sheets that are run through it?

This type of site can't be complicated to create. Any idea of cost to create and upkeep on one? Any developers here?

K99k he mentioned they are storing build sheets that are run through it?
I'm guessing they just cache every vin they run, and check to see if they have it in cache before going to the backdoor of nationalpreownedporsche.com. If ten people run the same vin, they are only hitting the Porsche database once and pulling it out of cache every subsequent query...

As K997 discovered, Porsche is extremely protective of their trademarks and routinely send cease and desist letters to anyone using one of their trademarks for anything even remotely commercial or otherwise dilutive of their brand. And while it sounds like his interactions with them on the data side have so far been supportive, I definitely worry that any commercialization of Vinanalytics, even if it's just advertising to cover server costs, especially in combination with capturing and storing their vin data, might bring unwanted attention and perhaps have Porsche actually hire a competent programmer to shut the back door securely with something more clever than changing alphanumeric to hex...

Call me a pessimist, bu build sheets access is definitely not a tool that Porsche intended for the general public. It is a DEALER TOOL.. They have already made changes twice that made it a bit more difficult for the public to get them, but both changes also quickly had work-arounds discovered still allowing access. More attention and semi-commercialization of the build sheet backdoor is not going to help keep this information flowing long term.

All that said, I'd be HAPPY to offer a donation to keep the vinanalytics servers running, as I'm sure many others would. It is definitely is easier than the convert/cut/paste method and saves from having to write your own script, but I really urge them to not make it in any way commercial or even collecting ad revenues.
