I occasionally get trade-in estimates from CARFAX on my car...it keeps going up and this time it was higher than I have ever seen before. Which still makes my jaw drop on a four-year old car...

(Not looking at getting rid of my baby anytime soon, of course - I'm going to enjoy it for many, many more years!)

report back if you see it drop from your previous carfax pull.

this would actually be good if we had a handful of owners doing this regularly. that would be a pretty neat indicator of pricing trend.

Going back to early January to April was definitely a sellers market with over inflated prices of 20-35%. That boat has gone now that Bank's interest rates has increased significantly in the past 2 months. Bank rates I heard will continue to rise this year so that will only put a damper to the housing and other markets such as cars. Already I am seeing prices on certain P models being slashed $2000-4,000. So perhaps if you are in the market of buying a P, might be a good idea to wait for a few more months before pulling the trigger.

Interest rates are up and rising. Inventory has increased significantly at my go to places for looking at 911's. Inventory is aging. Some price drops seen, but nothing notable, again where I poke around. If I were in the market to buy, I would wait a bit to possibly save 10-20% from covid highs.

Oddly, I’m seeing prices going back up again. That’s for good examples, sports chrono, CPO, condition, spec.

Air-cooled as well.

Hmmm…

I am sure they are trying to mark it up and you can mark it up whatever price you want but if its not selling then price will eventually go down. And it depends on the specs and model for the ones with higher price tags. I have seen jacked up priced still sitting on the lot since 4 months ago lol.

Get the rear wheel drive version. It’s really not a problem. Life is too short man.

Wow.

Haha, true.

Marin Porsche had two very low mileage 2022 CPO 718 Spyders for sale — they were asking $179k for each. I was like really? The build spec for both is $110k. SA said they were priced very well. Lolz

One has sold though and I noticed the other was suddenly reduced to $149k last week.

Sure hope the guy who bought the other one didn’t pay $179k.

Anyway, there’s a gizzilion 718 Spyders are the market right now.

Talk about owners dumping like crazy.

Noting it's weeks later and this is still for sale (albeit with the "confirm availability" link on the page). They're known to be expensive to buy from in the area.
Though if you want to see some eye watering numbers, look at the listings at Porsche of the Main Line:

Call them to see if it’s still available. Sometimes dealers leave the ads up to draw in traffic even if it’s sold. This is a very nice Porsche nonetheless. Clicks all the boxes and has a great maintenance history as well. Very clean.

So true and and everyone that is selling is trying to mark it up and hopefully take advantage of the demand that was once true a few months ago. Its definitely tougher to sell at a premium now unless you have a special rare specs with super low mileage on it. Bank rates will continue to increase this year so it will be interesting to see what happens in the P market.

Here is a story with actual aggregated data, versus all the n=1 anecdotes in this thread. This doesn't address Porsches explicitly but does discuss luxury cars as a category.

https://www.marketwatch.com/story/ne...?siteid=yhoof2

TL/DR - no, cars aren't getting any cheaper other than trucks and electric cars very slightly.
