VTS Error Code
both those cars have the VTS module in them. you'd need to read out the module (or check workorder history on the car) to see if they've been updated to the 4G units, which yeah, your dealership should be able to answer pretty quickly. what exactly did you ask your dealer?
My 2020 Macan with 16K miles bricked itself at the grocery this week. 😡 Towed to the dealer (San Diego Porsche) and diagnosed as the VTS. Had a loaner for a few days as replacement VTS was in stock - quick repair. Covered under warranty, Porsche road side assistance worked well to get a tow.

"Hi,
"Here is the Rennlist thread on the VTS PCC issue I was telling you about.
https://rennlist.com/forums/991/1301...rror-code.html
Please let me know what you think about this.
FYI here are the VIN numbers for my two Porsches.
2017 Macan: WP1AAXXXXXXXXXXXX
2019 Carrera T: WP0AAXXXXXXXXXXXX"
Here (below) is the Sales Manager's reply:
Hi,
I read the thread. I can see how this could be an issue if the VTS PCC unit went bad, but have never seen it. Doesn't seem like a common issue.
The warranty on the Macan ends 7/30/22 and the 911 ends 8/28/22.
So....not much help, or assurance that this will not be an issue going forward. Both cars will go into CPO in the next two months, so hopefully, this will be covered.
Both cars did have the PCC subscription for first year of ownership, and I canceled service after the one-year trial was over.
I did contact my dealer, both sales and service, here is the content of the e mail I sent:

LOL clearly he didn't "read the thread"
You are being a ball buster. No one ever said they were being VTS targeted. The complaint was having to pay for something that they never ordered that broke and was not essential or needed for the operation of the car.
It won't have anything to do with tunes. My guess is, after your local 3G service is shut down, the system starts a 30-day timer or something along those lines. If it goes 30 days without being able to contact the mothership, it disables the vehicle.
At first blush this has 'class action' written all over it, like other situations in which negligent engineering at Porsche has left their customers holding a very expensive bag. They will counter by saying, "Well, we didn't promise your car would keep running after its warranty expired," and unfortunately they'll have a point.
That's why I'm so interested in understanding what that document means by 2010 and later models.

First time took a couple of hours, trying fuses/relays without knowing what was wrong.
Third time it woke up within 10 minutes.
Fourth time happened yesterday, going back to check it and prod it again, stuck on a friend's drive
Could be caused by unit having poor mobile signal back to Vodabone, but as not registered and not enabled, it 100% should NOT disable the car.
I just noticed that this VTS is not going away. I posted my experience earlier this summer. I had the sense, when talking with the service department, that they were pretty familiar with it (hinting that it was not a one off). As a reminder I never had a subscription and was quickly told that it was not a software issue, necessitating a full change out of the module. Porsche covered what was initially quoted as a $2700 repair.
Damn, we went almost three months without anyone posting in this thread.
Personally, I'm still chalking this up as a total nonissue and a very small number of coincidental failures, the timing of which lines up nicely with "I just took my car out of storage"

VTS needs a cell service connection in order to do anything with or to your car. The cell phone companies have now shut down 3G service, so if your car still has a 3G module in its VTS, it is no longer capable of doing anything. So whatever is wrong with your car, VTS is not the problem.
