Not if you intake vents are on the front side of the fender where dirt and rocks can get sucked into the engine, oh wait Porsche will not cover that either......

Wow...I got the same plan 2 yrs ago, 2013 991 C4, with 17kmiles. For $3600. I guess the miles and the year effects the pricing.

Classic example. My 2017 water pump leaked and was replaced by Porsche under the warranty. Advisor said it was $4200. The pump is $465, I could have easily installed myself. I watched some reworked wrecked 911 YouTube videos. Again mechanically these cars are straight forward. Only reason I would buy CPO is if you will sell within two years, then it helps resale as the next buyer will have the CPO until it expires.

are you serious here bro?? like you have any clue on when and what will break?? if you did, you'd be the richest guy on the planet (predicting the future can be VERY lucrative). do you understand how auto mfg's figure out when to stop warranty coverage??. it's not some arbitrary/magical time period (3/36, 4/50 ect). it's based on MOUTAINS of data over many years. they know exactly when things start going down hill and repairs start becoming more frequent. it's no coincidence that almost all mfg's bail on you at or around 3-4 years and 40-50k miles (comprehensive coverage/not powertrain alone). that is when the honeymoon ends (statically). mfg's know exactly what they're doing

did you also know that most people want NOTHING to do with repairing their cars (that includes 911 owners). i wrenched my cars for many years back when i was younger. shied away from nothing back then. from tune ups to engine tear downs. 40 years later, i want NOTHING to do with repairing cars. again...most (vast majority) of 911 owners do not want to fix their broken car. if i have a day to blow, it certainly won't be spent fixing crap on my 911. i'll be golfing, fishing, hunting, spending time with family/friends and lots of other things....until the shop calls and says my car is fixed/ready to pick up. =). time is my/many peoples most valuable resource. hard pass on spending it fixing my car

no problem if you're into tearing into your car. more power to you bud. but giving out advise too a situation that doesn't apply to most people is silly. i use an indy too. it's a great way to save money. but i can't tell you how many people i've seen forking over many thousands for repairs at my indy's shop. saving 35% is awesome!! unless the total bill from a dealership is $8k and you're handing over $5000 outta pocket to the indy. then it's not so awesome. the *real kicker here* is after handing over a bunch of loot, you're still on the hook for whatever happens tomorrow, next week, next month or next year. paying for a repair doesn't do a thing to minimize out of pocket expenses going forward. warranties are for people who don't like this risk/reward or penalty proposition. on 911's, the penalty can be huge very easily. a base corolla?...not so much.

doing your own maintenance is a separate conversation. completely different the fixing broken stuff and warranties in general. won't comment either way other then say no thanks/pass

for the record, i don't have a warranty on my 991.1S. if i could have gotten one at a reasonable price, i would have. higher miles on my 2013 C2S made the cost stupid for my situation so i passed and am rolling the dice. insurance is purely a situational product. your situation is not the norm (choosing and/or wanting to fix your own 911). guys like me (majority of car owners) are the target consumer. if you handed me a wrench and told me to fix my 911, i'd prolly throw it at you =)

We do, with competitive rates to those out side of CA. You can reach me at tgibson@highline-autos.com or (855) 924-1333 for pricing and example contracts that explain coverage.

They will not, anything more "exotic" than a Turbo, we have to use our other provider for warranty coverage. The good thing is between the two, we have customers with great coverage on everything from Hondas to Bugattis.

Fidelity is almost exclusively milage sensitive, with pricing tiers approx. every 10K miles.

Fidelity is such a great charity offering these competitive warranties and all in the name of PROFIT. I had one warranty that paid huge dividends. It was warranty company that refused a claim so I took legal action. The learnings from the experience has been extremely financially rewarding.

If you can't manage repairs, struggle with decisions, and want a false sense of security by all means buy a warranty. I can't think of one extended warranty I ever had that wasn't a PIA. Dealers hate warranty companies, they are slow to pay and debate the repair. So most tell you to pursue reimbursement on your own. It even occurred at a BMW dealer where the car and warranty was purchased at the same time! Had a $18K engine camshaft spall. Warranty company defense was with only 3 months left on the warranty we feel the camshaft would make it to the end of warranty.

Only person who is fan of extended warranties or any warranty for that matter is one that never had to use it.......

I have been on many forums. Owned a lot of cars and trucks. If forums are any indication of problematic vehicles the 911 is as close to Toyota as you can get. I rarely see a post about a problem. Go get on the Ford 250/350 forum. You want to see multiple major failures every day. If I owned a 6.7L F250 I would have an extended warranty, even if it is just someone to sue if they didn't cover the part. I chose not to deal with that headache and sold vehicle prior to expiration of Fords bumper to bumper warranty and never looked back. You have a problematic vehicle get rid of it. Don't buy problematic vehicles. I purchased a 2014 Yamaha SVHO and within days found they had timing chain failures (interference engine). (should've have done more research). No worries I sold 3 weeks later and never looked back. The $500 I loss was well worth the expense to avoid the annoyance of using a ticking time bomb. Yamaha never issued a TSB but did replace engines, but there was inconsistency.

Our little cars and trucks have a very short life. I calculated that a 2x3 pump running 24 hours a day accumulates 100K miles in 3 months. So in 6 months the pump covers 200K miles. The target for pump failures in a chemical plant is 10 years, if a pump were to only run 6 months it would be a catastrophic failure. Yet we are happy with 200k mile cars.....

Good discussion. I understand both sides. Insurance sucks until you have to use it. Insurance companies will always fight you whether home, auto, marine, etc. They do not want to pay out. That being said, I been on this forum for many years and have not heard bad things about Fidelity paying out for repairs.

This gave me a chuckle, especially the "I rarely see a post about a problem"

not the right car for this forum but i can beat this. i plugged in a 72k mile 2015 macan turbo that is not CPO. the 48 month $0 deductible fidelity platinum plan is... $18,844. LOL.

the cheapest plan, 12 month $500 deductible... $3978. hahaha wow.

i guess i will keep looking for CPO, that's insane.

You do not have to have an extended warranty. What are you willing to budget for repairs annually, if to much sale.

Prices jumped like crazy. my car was in storage over the winter so miles didn't change. Quote i got in November/ early December was 2 grand less than now. My extended warranty on my 2013 C2 expires in May, i thought i can just wait couple months and buy it then. should have gotten it in December. Unfortunately with new prices this doesn't seem like this company a great deal as it was in years past.
