Simple fix, did it yesterday, took 5 mins. Didn't ruin my day or anything, shyt happens it's fixed and didn't require me to go to dealership.

I have a 2012 991 Carrera S with the Sirius re-boot issue. Last night I pulled the PCM fuse to protect battery with intention of re-installing this morning and then performing the PCM re-set procedure. Unfortunately, the PCM will not boot at all. I have verified the fuse is properly reinserted in the proper space in the fuse box. Pushing the left rotary **** does not power the PCM back-up. Does anyone have an idea why? It was working when I shut the car off yesterday before removing the fuse.

Battery was replaced about 5 weeks ago and I've had no issues with the car until the PCM began re-booting every two minutes on the afternoon of 20 May.

Appreciate any suggestions for something I may have overlooked.

Had to do the reset twice to get it to work. Then, reactivate XM, reconnect my phone, redo all my presets. 30 minutes wasted. Thank you SiriusXM!

Thank you fellow Rennlisters. My 2015 had the same PCM issue yesterday and I thought the worst. Checked in with you guys and found out that this happened to a lot of us, which made me feel a lot better. Called the dealer and they sent me a text with the reset instructions right away. All is good now. It is great to be associated with other enthusiasts who are very helpful. I hope you all have a nice Memorial Day weekend and let us remember those service men and women who have passed serving our country.

Happy to report I finally got around to putting the fuse back in and doing the fix. Worked like a charm.

While I was taking pictures of all my presets (before doing the PCM handover reset) the PCM rebooted and I noticed in the bottom of the screen it said "Thermal overload." Thought that was interesting. Computer was so confused by XM that it was overheating and causing the reboot.

PCM 3.1. So just the 991.1. Also affects Cayennes of the same time period.

I haven't checked today but I'd suspect Boxster and Caymans are also affected. Those guys must not daily their cars and are going to have an unpleasant surprise this weekend....lol

I reset the PCM system on my 2016 911 and 2016 Macan S. The 911 worked fine after one reset effort; the Macan required 4 resets. It'll be interesting to see how long this "fix" lasts. I can imagine Sirius and Porsche locking horns on this issue, and Sirius pushing out a "fix-patch" that undoes all our home remedy efforts. Oh well; c'est la vie!

BTW, the PCM manual lists the instructions for a reset, which are nearly identical to the instructions listed in this thread. I called my dealer about the issue yesterday before checking the web, and not surprisingly have not received a call back. Oh well, they could still be in a lock-down mode, or test driving new arrivals - hopefully the latter.

I may have escaped the Sirius Virus through sheer stubbornness. They wanted to charge me $140 a year for their 1980’s junk service. I politely told them to pound sand, and yesterday my XM radio and traffic disappeared.

And the PCM works just fine. (2015 GTS)

It definitely affects Caymans & Boxsters. Mine is a Cayman and it was doing this until I applied the "handover reset" step this morning. Not a lot of kudos are being handed out over this, which is how it should be for Porsche & SiriusXM, but I was really impressed that my sales rep at the Porsche dealership emailed me this morning. He had noticed I had scheduled an appointment for tomorrow to have them look at my PCM to determine why it was rebooting every 2-3 minutes. His email included the steps for the reset and the warning that any settings made to the PCM and any data stored in it would be lost. He said the service department was filling up with service appointments before they had any idea what the cause was.

Posts #75 and #80 differ a little in that post #75 says to press the INFO button Last, but post #80 says to press INFO button First.

Assuming most people at pressing INFO button first, or does it matter?

I did Info first. Just holding info does a quick reboot that doesn't clear settings. The handoff reset is what really clears everything and fixes the issue.

Not sure if it matters which is first, but I was successful with doing the handoff reset after the quick (Info button only) reset.

I'd not be to harsh on Porsche. Sure XM could have done better and Porsche maybe, maybe should have had a chance to test and soak software update. I'm amazed this doesn't happen more often to be honest.

The order for reset, off the top of my head, is this:

On the panel press CAR
Touch option
Touch SET PCM
Touch RESET PCM
Select Handover
Then answer YES to remaining prompts.

OR call your SA. Mine answered on my first call and talked me through the reset in less than a minute. Now that is service and keeps me coming back to both the brand, and my specific dealer; Loeber.

Thanks everyone, the instructions in the black box posted above worked for me first time.
Had to get the Sirius reset signal from some nice lad in India, and re-link my phone.
Of course the jukebox was wiped out too, so that will give me something to do this weekend.
We went to the beach yesterday and mine acted up on the way home, had to run an errand today and it kept rebooting my jukebox.
Checked here and problem was solved, interesting Porsche or Sirius didn’t reach out, they both have my email and mobile number.
At least it wasn’t another issue from China,or maybe it was, Covid, Murder Wasp.........PCM bug

Had the same problem as everyone else. Followed the procedures above also had a hard copy from my Porsche dealer. Did NOT fix the problem. They told me to bring it right in. They told me some PCM'S they are having to do 2 or three times.
Unfortunately mine was one of them. They got about 300 calls on this since about 8AM till when I got there at 11AM. You will Know if it works if you lose all your stored stations and any stored settings. they reset and it is go to go now. The really annoying thing was you could not shut the damn thing off. It kept coming on every time I manually shut it down; also I tried turning the volume down figuring every time it came back on it was annoying but the volume came back up.
