Default PCM Issue with recent iOS Update?

So, on my 2015 I am having the pcm restart on and off. Only thing I am seeing as a variable as of late is an update to the operating system on an iPhone, anyone else having the same?

Several of us have recently experienced the same issue. Not sure how the IOS update could be the cause, but it would seem there's something going on to all of a sudden result in multiple failures. How many of these failures are paired with iPhones?

Yep, went to the store late yesterday and noticed my PCM did the restart every 5 min.

This happened to my previous Panamera where it did first restart every 5 mins then as time went on, it kept restarting every 20-30s after it came back on. The dealer had to replace the unit after trying multiple times to do software updates on the PCM.

Hopefully, this isn't the same issue with the 991 this time, my phone was updated a couple of weeks ago and never had issues right after the update and didn't happen till just yesterday.

Couple of us got this after a recent recall work on the heat shield.
Our PCMs have gone viral
I'm in the shop and will report back with the outcome.

It actually seems to be linked to the Sirius/XM radio as it is happening across multiple platforms starting yesterday-ish (Cayenne, Boxster, etc.) Several people are seeing it happen on their cars who do NOT own iPhones, so the new Apple IOS theory doesn't seem to be true.

Anyone experience a PCM failure who is NOT a Sirius/XM user?

The dealer swore that the 2 are unrelated. I'm guessing if an internal Porsche software update caused this though if others are suffering without having gone in for service, that theory is also out.
I suppose we can eliminate the hardware angle which is encouraging as these head units are pricey.

damn. Same thing for me. 2013 C2 PCM
I have XM radio. It started about 2 weeks after iPhone 7 update.
I have an appointment with dealer next week.
PCM resets every 5 minutes.

Same over here (and two others I know locally). If I am on a call when it does this the phone will disconnect. Also, it will also come back to what I was listening when it originally happened (Howard 100) regardless what I am listening on regular radio or on Sirius/XM. The Service Manager at the dealership stated he had a few calls about this as well and that he thought at this point that it could be a corrupted file that was downloaded by Sirius/XM. Would be very interesting to hear if it is happening to anyone without Sirius/XM service.

Not phone related, drove without Bluetooth on. Called dealer and they have an alert out from Porsche to not take action as they are aware of issue. I was told to stay tuned. COVID? Lol...

Just got off the phone with Porsche in Melbourne FL and he said I was the 40th person to call this morning with the same issue of the PCM resetting. He said Porsche is hard at work trying to track down the problem and the working theory is an authentication issue for those that have Navigation. He stated that this issue (as far as he is aware) is NOT affecting cars without navigation. He said he expects a fix in the next 24 hours.

Does anyone have a 991 with a constantly rebooting pcm without Sirius/xm?

my dealer is saying this is certainly satellite radio caused, and Porsche is working on a fix. Interesting that it could possibly be navigation caused.

Started last night for me. I bet it’s an over the air update from Sirius XM that caused a PCM file to corrupt. Big PITA

Yep just talked to my SA. There is a notice out to all dealerships about this, all dealers I guess are on the wait to hear back from Corporate to hear back on the outcome from their checks.

My guess is this is probably only affecting older vehicles that don't have the on-air updates? after XM updated their part, it messed with Porsche's system as Porsche wasn't updated to match XM update? Most likely Porsche will have to make updates on their systems and manually update PCMs to match......truly P.I.T.A.
