991.2 Water Pump Failures

That it is. I can understand having an issue with a newly designed component on the 991 not that water pumps are new, but if it is failing at more than 2%, you start looking into it. But 40%???
I'd suggest having them call Honda. I replaced my Honda water pump at 118,617 miles but only because that is what you do when replacing a timing belt and belt tensioner. And my Acura is 4y 8m old, imagine, it is not leaking either.
Owners of a famous American motorcycle "chrome don't get you home".

2018 Targa 4 GTS 991.2 - Finally Failed Yesterday - 3k Miles
Yup. Pink fluid on the floor. Cracked water pump per dealer tech. Replacing Now. Only 3k miles. Wow.
Info above re: MODEL YEAR is incorrect (sorry, typo). This is a 2019 Targa 4 GTS. Not that it matters.

2017 C2S replaced water pump
I was at the dealer and the tech checked for this "known issue". My OEM pump had a slight leak @ 11k miles, and they replaced it free-of-charge. I figure it was on the road to failure w/in 10k miles.

Mine failed in August 2020 just before the factory 4 year warranty expired with around 5k miles on the odometer. Fixed under warranty at that time. Driven 7k miles since then and no issues.

I think it does matter. When was your build?
I thought the widespread water pump failures were addressed by Porsche in early 2018, and typically builds of early 2018 and newer are not seeing this failure?

Brand New Water Pump, Prior indication of coolant leak. Car currently at 11K, looks like it was replaced prior to purchase.
Should not be a problem for a bit, I hope.

Have been off this thread for quite some time, but recently posted on another issue so your responses popped up on my email. Our water pump work took place in 2019 when our (early build, 2017 Carrera, bought new) 911 had just under 20,000 miles. So far, all's well. Car now has 29,000 miles. I've also heard (as per barncobob) that Porsche is extending coverage for the problem for 10 years.
