Back a day early. Wow, its an amazing car. Wish I had asked the dealer to do the airfilter.

2018 c4s add me to the water pump list. Everything covered by Porsche so I really don't care. The car is awesome and I couldn't be happier with Porsche as a brand. They have been amazing

I had initially replied no… BUT….@24500 Jul 13, 2022 took car in for CEL… thermostat/pump failure.
Pump under warranty. Have to pay for thermostat/one hour labor… getting serpentine belt replaced while they are at it.
Porsche of Ocala… I’ve always had good customer service.

No question about the latter, but if I had to replace the water pump every year, two, three, four or five years, the car would be gone. Water pumps have been around for ages and if they cannot get that right, I have to wonder about their engineering department. My last water pump was fine at 118,616 miles and 11 years, but it got replaced because I was "in-there" doing the timing belt and belt tensioner. Of course, it was not a Porsche.

Is there a way of knowing if the pump has been changed, if i don’t have records? is there a part number visible? or any other indicators?

Deja Vu? Seems to me I've chimed in before, but a couple of years ago. Our 2017 base Carrera was a very early build. Picked it up Nov 30, 2016, but the dealer had the car for about 10 months (couldn't sell a Lava Orange 911 with a manual gearbox - how times have changed). Failure at 19,436 miles, Sep 2019. Simple fluid leak onto the garage floor. Warranty repair. That said, didn't someone on this forum mention that warranty notwithstanding, Porsche was offering a 10-warranty extension for this problem? 911 now has 31,036 miles. Has been tracked various times. No repeat of the problem.

Here is a question. I just purchased my early build 2018 991.2 GTS and started reading this thread. Unfortunately, I am a little freaked out because this is the first I have heard of this. I take a lot of road-trips so is there anything you can do ( preventative maintenance) before it might happen. I really do not want to be stuck in no man’s land and have this happen. Will Porsche do anything before the water pump fails or only after the problem arises?
