@VektorPerformance makes complete sense-thanks very much! @getPorscheparts can you get this part? Hoping its some simple vacuum tube to replace if I can get to the other end...yes I could see if CPO would cover it but probably not worth the hassle as I am already in there.

Anyone have input on this question?

Looking at a 17 991.2S right now but it's out of warranty, just a bit worried about this issue. Have no problem spending money to keep the car going over the years but don't want to be replacing water pumps on my own dime on the regular either.

45k miles, so out of warranty and high enough to make extended warranties pricey. Carfax shows everything done service wise, all done at dealer but doesn't show a wp replacement.

maybe contact independent shop for pricing to perform preventative replacement. You might never need it though. Have you priced. Fidelity warranty? How much?

I wouldn't let it stop me from making the purchase. It stinks if it happens to you, but the probability is in your favor. Have the dealer put it on the list and see if you can observe any tells as shown in many of the pics here.

The car has been home for a few days now. They ended up having to replace the COV block as well. No issues, process smooth as glass...as expected. Simple modifications are not responsible for the most common failure of the 991.2.

so mine was supposedly fine and now it isn't. The car is now with Porsche after I discovered coolant on the piping and on the ground c500 miles after it was checked.

Bringing our mule to the dealer tomorrow with pink crusty goo that first started ~2K mile mark. Will see what they say.

On a related note, I have been playing with new OEM pumps and the actuator seals definitely have a vacuum level limit. Will be testing some solutions soon.

On That note, I called Porsche and they now have a 10 year warranty on the water pump from purchase date

I should hope so, because the 2-week old one I have here holds squat for vacuum :/

At least it's good to hear they are going to support their customers for the long haul. It would be nice to see than notice in writing.
