Anyone regret getting PDK?

I can't say enough good things about the PDK. It is a brilliant transmission. I wanted to experience what, I think, is Porsche's highest technological achievements. I absolutely fell in love with it and was/is amazed every time I drive it. If you have never driven a PDK, you should. That being said, I specced my 992 with a manual. There is no wrong answer and I wish we all would stop trying to make it a right/wrong decision.

In the market for a 911 and on the fence about tranny. Will not be tracking it and retired so driving will be pleasure rural driving. Not much stop and go. I've owned manual transmissions my whole life and have never regretted having them. I've read all the posts about the pros and cons of each and what they don't address is the personal enjoyment of rowing. Just wondering if any of you have gone with a PDK and regretted it? Not from a reliability or cost or performance perspective, but just enjoyment.
You need to drive a PDK with shifting paddles. If you don't have Sport Chrono, put the car in Sport mode. If you do get a model with Sport Chrono, you'll have Normal, Sport and Sport +. You need drive a PDK....and along the same line, drive a stick...
Reality? The market a bit mad for used and new Porsche cars. You may have to snap up what is available, be it PDK or Stick. I have a 13 Carrera S, PDK, no Sport Chrono. The car is utterly fantastic. Never drove a late model stick, no desire to do so...personal preference.

Can I ask why you're getting a GTS instead of a Spyder? Just curious as I've been considering a Spyder.

I found that I liked to drive my wife’s boxster more because I would use the auto roof more often. Spyder roof is beautiful, I just do way more short trips than I do epic drives and the ease of the auto roof is a win win. If I lived in a mountain town and did more weekend long drives I probably would have gone the spyder route. Also, an anniversary boxster (gts) allocation fell in my lap and I like unique cars so I took it.

I've owned both and regretted neither. What I can say is that when I drive PDK, sometimes I want stick and when I drive stick, sometimes I want PDK. Is two Porsches too much?

Look, there's a reason automatics outsell manuals. Just easier in the normal every day driving, and most are both faster and more fuel efficient than manuals now. The only benefit of a manual are potentially less maintenance cost, and engagement by the driver. To get a manual or not depends on if you drive in sh** NYC/LA traffic daily, or if you live in the middle of nowhere and traffic is not an issue.
I've had several manual vehicles, the only one I had during my NYC commuting days was a '92 Integra GSR. Loved the car, would have kept it forever, so easy to shift and drive. I HATED the commuting because being in constant 5 mph traffic and stop-n-go really sucks the fun out of driving a stick. Got married, had children, manuals are done for me.

After 2.5 years of PDK life... I think it's coming to an end. While it's a great transmission and all, I am just bored of it. Debating moving on to an F80 ZCP 6MT which are plentiful... or maybe a 991.2 but prices and availability constraints suck a lot of the fun out of that... maybe a 718 Spyder but supposedly the gearing is too long... I think if my car was a manual I would still be enjoying it, or at least that's what the internet has convinced me.

I have only had PDK recently, the past four (4) years, starting in 2018 with a Cayman GTS and then in 2020 with a 991.1 S car. Prior to these two (2) PDK equipped cars, my previous five (5) Porsche cars over the years were all manual, one of these was a 993 race/street car. In this car I came close to potentially blowing up the motor with the "money shot", the 5th to 2nd downshift. Luckily my left foot hit the clutch in time and I didn't over-rev the motor....I also had one sloppy shift, in the "heat of battle" in my former 2004 GT3 at a NASA Time Trial, got lucky again....as the DME report confirmed, I didn't over-rev the motor.....
With my most recent two (2) PDK equipped cars, we visit the track as often as possible, 6 - 8 times a years with the former Cayman GTS, and now am planning to go at about the same pace with the 991.1 Carrera S. I really appreciate the no missed shift/no down shift "insurance" that the PDK provides. I'd be very hesitant to go back to a manual transmission....only exception I see would be a vintage Porsche, and with present day prices, that ain't happening.
I find it kind of funny the the "dyed in there wool" 2012 and on Porsche 991 manual shift drivers, already have a PDK...they just have to shift it manually. As Clint Eastwood once said in the closing lines to Magnum Force, "A man has got to know his limitations." I know mine....ergo, I have a PDK, and simply love it, especially in Sport mode.

I've had both and loved 'em both.
Went from MT to PDK and then back to MT.
In stop/go traffic and tracking, PDK is hard to beat.
For everything else, MT does it for me.
A well executed heel-toe downshift is always a good thing.

I have had both, currently have a MT 991, and am of the view that PDK allows the full performance capability of these cars to be unlocked and at the disposal of average drivers like myself. It is fun to row through the gears and have that interaction with the car, but I believe this will be my last MT car.
