I'm guessing you've driven the TTS? I would be absolute hindrance to the car if I had to shift at full throttle. And launch control? Fugetaboutid

ferrari got rid of the manuals, do they have less buyers? 😊

I’ll be honest though, there are a few random moments where I miss rowing the gears, but most days I really love the PDK, I drive almost all the time with the paddles in sport or sport+. I think it’s really fun in a diff way, the super fast shifts without lifting the throttle, the control at the wheel, the convenience of auto. I don’t regret it. If I could own one of each I would, but in my reality PDK makes more sense.

OP here and I'm amazed this thread is still alive. For the record, I decided on a manual but in a 2022 Boxster GTS. It's been a long wait and I still don't have the car....but it just got to the dealer and awaiting PDI so only a few days away. For me, the choice came down to how I was going to use the car....strictly for pleasure, on nice days, on rural roads. I haven't driven a manual in about 5 years but with 50+ years of driving I think I'll adapt quickly. Can't wait to start rowing again.

I have, the 992 Turbo S.

And since I have only manuals in my cars and motorcycles, I can tell you nobody shifts at full throttle. And you cannot do a launch control in a manual, although I have in the Turbo S with PDK.

Manual in a Turbo S? Sure, I'd love to drive one / buy one.

PDK in a Turbo S?? Yes, absolutely the best trans for the car!!

Nice! 992 TTS!! I didn't even know it came with a manual option. So the manual 992 TTS's don't have launch control? Just the PDK version?

I just have the 991.1 TTS with a few mods and I just can't imagine shifting at the speeds this thing is capable of.

I'm pretty sure he wasn't saying he had a manual 992TTS.

OK, I am obviously confused by his comment about not being able to do launch control in a manual. There are a few cars that have a manual and launch control. My C7 Z06 manual had launch control.

**and I do see how I read that first part wrong 😳

Turbo S and GT3 RS only come in a PDK, and you don't hear anyone crying about that.
I question my PDK (when i'm not driving it), but then realize how great it is when I'm back in it. I've only done the launch control twice, but it has been easy & impressive enough to solidify the decision.

Ferrari, Mclaren, AMG, Lamborghini.. they're all paddle shift cars, and no one bats an eye. I also fall to that old-school mentality of manual>auto. I guess I don't have to worry about someone else burning my clutch, rollback, traffic, handbrake malfunctions, valet issues, ect. My kids can use it for their weddings in the future (it is white).

I’ve always been a hardcore stick guy and wanted my 911 with a MT. But I got such a good deal on one with a PDK that I took it. Guess what? I love it. If you’re gonna drive it in any traffic, it’s easier. And I usually put it in manual mode. It’s so easy to get around fast with a PDK. Much more than with a stick. I do have three other sticks though.
