Ok i've been using it this past week as the weather has been nice enough to drive. Everything seems to work great with exception to the volume control when using the Waze app. I don't know how to adjust the volume during waze voice navigation, did anyone figure this out yet or do I need to upgrade the firmware. When using the Spotify app I can adjust volume via **** just fine.
if I hit submit I get a batch error....no usability at all now. Sent an email out for support.
When you get to that screen on your phone (the one with Batch etc.), tap on the screen outside the dialog boxes. You will then get a screen that states Please Enter Your Problem, with the OK button below.
On that screen, tap in the dialog box and enter world01, then your model of car, then your country. (these are the instructions sent to me). Then you need to take a screen shot of what you enter on that screen and send it to them, wait for the id and pw to be sent to you.
Thanks Nick! I received the same instructions from them last night as well. Will try tonight.
You are most welcome. I was laughing last night thinking I do not recall putting this much effort into my University education! I am a sucker for punishment when it comes to this Made in China supposed "WonderBox". May crack champagne out if this thing ever works for me. Although still think it likely will be the death of me in the end...
There is no login/password for those builds, maybe its the one they repackage since its shared for other U2W type devices.
* Copy the two files to the root of a fat32 drive (i used a 128gb usb-c drive with adapters)
* Plug it into a usb power outlet ... wait for red & blue lights to be turned on (i think this actually just copies to the device)
* Take it to the car without the usb drive, turn it on
* Get your phone on the wifi PORSCHE02 or something like that, ive seen videos where a passcode is 12345678 if somehow you need to enter one. if you ever linked your phone before it should just be there
* Go to 192.168.50.2 in your browser and click upgrade. wait a while as the progress meter goes
* it'll reboot, upgraded
FWIW i live in the hills and have little to no cell service which is why I believe it was upgrading from a staged file on the device. there is little chance it would be able to download anything while my phone was connected to the car wifi.
Well like myrr, I contacted them and followed their latest instructions. I also received the account and pw and it completed the update. Then goes to a German language bluetooth screen, to which point I connected the Bluetooth connection to the device, and voila I had Wire-frickin-less CarPlay in my driveway! I was too emotional to park the car in the garage at that point, overcome with tears of joy and elation at FINALLY reaching the pinnacle of my tech career LOL
I will see what happens over the next few days when I simply start up the car and go now, that obviously will be the first test..then the clarity of the connection second. Still shocked this thing finally connected, but it sure would be nice to not have to remove my phone when it is -45C as it was this week LOL. Frigid fingers crossed.
I’m happy to report that for the first time, the device seems to work as designed. Only tested in my garage for 5 minutes tonight. Will see how it fares on an actual drive.
Celebratory Thursday night beer. Hopefully not premature...
Well I will raise my glass with you LOL. Went out for a drive with multiple stops including a phone call. Worked flawlessly and connected very quickly every time I got back in car. And of course when I got home I opened the centre console to grab my phone by habit LOL (it was comfortably in my pocket).
