My V2 started acting up a bit, so I switched back to the V1 that works well 95% of the time. Still like this product quite a bit now that it's fairly reliable. I'll have to see if there's a new firmware update...
I didn't have any issue updating. I connected bluetooth and went to IP address and it shows its latest firmware when I tried it about a month ago.
I heard that they're pretty decent at replying emails so maybe email them to get answers and share with us. Thanks!

Are these updates on the phone side or in the dongle?
My understanding is that CarPlay is essentially frozen, so the dongle should never need any updates when communicating with PCM via the USB port. The phone side, that's different. Apple changes things all of the time.
I have a singe I bought back sept 19. It was working great most the time. I purchased another one for a different car. It worked in the Porsche better, so put the new one I. Porsche, old one in Toyota. Worked great most the time. So I decided to upgrade the firmware. I received the not activated (20) message. I contacted carlinkit and they sent a new firmware that should work. I now get an message asking for account and password. Carlinkit responded now saying it can’t be upgraded. I expected an account and password. Did anyone get sent an account and password?

Sounds like we have a decent product with bad customer service. I thought they advertised free firmware upgrade. Looks like I should upgrade to any new firmware until we have a solution.
Does yours still work for now or getting an error and not usable anymore?

Actually I think they have been very responsive. I get an email every day. Just taking a bunch of steps. Now they are supposedly sending an account/password to activate upgraded firmware. I did upgrade it on my own without their support. I then needed help correcting my issue of applying an upgrade that was not supported. If they get this running tomorrow I will be happy.
I have the exact same product running in my New Toyota Highlander. Works great. I also purchased one of the newer models. Looks nicer, but functions the exact same way.
It’s working after sever emails with carlinkit. The exact same dongle works in MY19 Porsche 911 and MY20 Toyota Highlander. Connects fast and works great.
I ordered this one for my 2019 911. https://cplay2air.com Took 2 minutes to set up, and I am surprised at how quickly it reconnects after I start the car.
Now, I wish the smartphone booster compartment had wireless charging.

Wireless charging is easy, lots of chargers fit in the compartment and usb splitters work fine.
BTW, I ordered the same unit, it paired immediately and connects quickly, even with my phone in my pants pocket. So glad I waited, I think these guys worked out the bugs.
Has anyone driven at night with the wireless CarPlay adapter? Does the car play auto-dim (go into night mode) when the lights come on?
I have read that some wireless CarPlay adapters don't work with auto night mode. Usually when in auto night/dimming mode via regular wired cable, when the headlights of the car turn on (tunnels or night time), it controls the carplay screen going into dark mode, which is useful to not have a bright white screen at night. I want a wireless CarPlay adapter that also switches to primarily black to not blind me at night.
If this works at night in your car, please let me know which adapter you have and where you bought it from. Thank you so much!
