I just installed mine today , took less than 15 minutes.
I removed the sides trim & longer trim by fear to scratch anything by prying the PDK trim. Still very easy to do.
The hardest part was to re-plug thé hazard/ door lock buttons cuz the harness is very short.

tried the mod tonight, everything was going great, didn't even have to struggle much at all with the center trim removal ... but for the life of me I could NOT get the hazard/lock button to disconnect. I spent a solid 30 minutes trying to poke and pry and different things that I 'thought' might be the pins to release it but no luck. Finally I admitted defeat as I started getting more and more concerned I would end up damaging something.
I attached a few pictures of where I was poking at... Is the pin(s) the red arrow or the blue circles? Or something else? What tool (if any) did you use ?

For me , I just pulled on it & it came loose. I guess someone removed it in the past.
Plugging it in was the hardest part, the harness is too short. I had to put my trim removal kit to hold the harness in order for me to push in the plug.

I agree that's what it looks like, thanks for offering some advice. I tried that initially and then took another crack at it today and still with no luck. If that is the release pin mine is reaallllly wedged in there. Seems like it's a rare issue but I found a work-around
in case anyone else encounters the same difficulty:
-you can remove the casing from around the back of the hazard/lock button while it is still within the PDK plastic surround trim and disassemble the actual button fixture at the back without having to unplug that wire harness. From there you can separate the plastic button covers from the actual wired/electronic component portion and transfer the plastic components over to the new hazard/lock trim piece and then clip it all back together without disconnecting the wire harness.
It's not as complicated as it sounds and fairly intuitive if you are desperate and examining every aspect of that damn piece like I was lol

So I think I read the above the 981 Cayman boots fit....Has anyone tried these boots off ebay? EBay Cayman Shift Boot
The seller has pretty much all stitching colors available. Could get the price of the mod closer to 200 rather then 400...
Edit: The boots do look like they could be different leather based on the picture but there is suede options available which seem like it may match better?

It’s nice to see cheaper options. The leather does look more rough so it could be fake leather.
Actually, I wonder now if oem leather boot is real leather lol

Nice find! Really brings down the cost.

Got mine yesterday and installed today. Took all of 15 minutes since I had a hard time releasing the shift ****. I ordered the black leather with red stitching. I guess if you order deviated stitching, you don’t get the model designation. No worries, I can still remember the small things like which model Porsche I’m driving 😜
Thanks to all for making my wallet lighter and my interior cooler!
