No issues with 18 degree weather. I have to say any other non-winter tire, the car would have stayed in the garage and I would have missed out on two hours of driving. It’s too bad they are on back order.

Wow I didn’t know the GT3 had a 9k redline! That is awesome!

I also love these tires. They are so good on freeway ruts full of water after days of heavy rain. The car feels so secure on one part of my commute where I have to cross 4 lanes of badly maintained freeway at about 70mph.

Yes, I went out at 2am for 2 hours. It’s nice and peaceful in the middle of the night.

read some terrible reviews about the Bridgestone Potenza tire, flat spotting in cold weather, poor wear and the like...any comments as I have a set being shipped by TireRack tomorrow. Thanks.

I just pulled mine and put on my PS4S. Second season on the RE980s. Couldn't be happier with them. Superb tire in cold and wet months. Since my 911 is my daily and not my weekend or track/autocross car I could quite easily and happily run the RE980s all year long.

Have posted in this thread before, but I've been running these on my 991.1 C2 for over 6 months. Great tire in the cold and wet this winter. Excellent in summer tire conditions (really perform as well as the P Zeros I used to run for daily driving). Could not be happier, although we will see how they wear.

I ran them over the last winter (late November to mid March here), although I put very few miles on them, as I work from home and don't drive the 991 daily. I never got to drive them in snow, and in the rain, I don't push so no glowing comments about grip in the rain.

I can say that they do take a set after sitting for a few days in colder weather. Until COVID-19 arrived, I was traveling fairly often so would leave the car in covered airport parking. After 3-4 days, there is a pronounced vibration in the steering that takes a few miles to subside. That said, I have experienced that with pretty much any performance tire, and would not ding the 980AS for it.

Nothing scientific, but from a ride quality standpoint, they are not as smooth in normal around town or highway driving as my PZeros or Bridgestone 007s. They seem to transmit road imperfections and overall pavement coarseness more directly than the other two tires.

As always, YMMV. When I bought them last November, they were the only available winter or AS tire for the GTS. And even then, the rears were 305s rather than the recommended 295, which were complete unobtanium.

I've been running them for a year as a daily driver - so through all seasons, including winter. Tires have been excellent in the wet. I find tire noise is incredibly dependent on the road surface (for any tire)... Tires have been excellent all the way around. Took them to a tire shop at 11K miles and they told me I still had 50% tread left. My use is: On road, DD driving only, but I have fun with the car.

My sense is this tire is particularly well suited for the PNW climate - good in the wet, and strong in temps from low 30's and up, with lots of winter days that start in the mid 30's and end in the 50's.

Totally agree with your comments on the RE980’s. Love them!

thanks. After reading the comments I told tire rack to deliver the set to my dealer for installation on the C2. I am looking forward to driving with these tires. The car is my daily driver.

I think I'm going to give these a go when my Pirelli's wear out after this driving season. I find here in Calgary with our winter Chinook's that there are quite a few chances to drive the car during the winter months, but certainly not on a summer tire. It'd be great to take advantage of days where the roads are dry and the temps are in the -5 to 0C range.

Even for times like this - it's April, but we still see a lot of freezing temps in the mornings. I'd have already had my car out for the past 3 weeks on all seasons, whereas today is going to be my first drive since October.

I just getting ready to order a set of these tires. Does everyone recommend that I order the 305's for the rear if my current tires are 295's? They would go on a 2014 C2. I currently have P Zero's that are 295's. Wheels are classic carrera.
Looking for good tire for daily driving to work and taking kids to school. Never track or driven too aggressively. Want good quality tire that has long life and nice ride. Utah weather. Would not be used in winter as I have a set of Alpins for winter use in Utah.Thank you for your help.
