I have a deposit down for the new one (if it actually happens) but am very much on the fence.

Love my T and concern is the size of the 992 and the tech.

Can’t help thinking the 991.2 will be looked back as a real watershed moment🤔

^^as soon as they announced the 991.2 T it spoke to me, it was my perfect 911. The prospect of the 992 T truly does nothing for me. The only attractor is the manual transmission. I personally do not want/need more tech and everything that made the 991.2T special can now be had throughout the 992 lineup. And let’s face it, wide bodies aren’t special when that’s all they have. I’m sure they will offer a plethora or color choices though so I guess that’s cool.

The only other 2 cars that spoke to me in the last decade were the Cadillac CTS-V wagon 6 Speed and the 981 Cayman GT4. I only had the pleasure of owning the former and the latter never panned out because the T was announced when funds became available.

I find the only entertaining part of the 992 is the configurators with PTS and that’s about it. You can certainly design a beautiful 992 but that’s not enough for me to make the switch. Heck I can design a beautiful 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 and that inspires me way more than the 992.

100% - the additions in the 992 platform take the car further away from the idea of the basic/purist spec (narrow body, analog gauges, etc), and honestly I think the 991 looks better. The only thing that might swing it is if they somehow put in the NA 4.0 - but that has already been ruled out on the record.

Alc - I missed my CTS-V wagon so much I recently went out and got a manual CT5-V Blackwing to make a 2 car garage with my T. The car is brilliant, and even better you don't have to have purchased 3 Escalades, 2 ATS's and an XT4 to be allocated one!

I couldn't find the quote, but one of the Porsche execs said that at the end of the 991 run... It will mark the turning point when looked back on in the future or some such... That resonated with me, as normally they are all about marketing and looking forward/sales when they launch new stuff. I'll keep looking and if I find the link, will post.

Default 2018 manual T

Wow….. I’m in such a confused state. I have a white 18 Carrera T with a 7 speed manual. Changed out rotors to racing girodisk. Phenomenal is an understanding. Changed to a numeric racing shifter, giac tune and akropovic exhaust and custom wheels with about 18k miles.

my confusion lies in after reading through this thread it really pushes me to keep it and I have a buyer at 117k. I just don’t know what to do. The car is blistering fast but almost feels n/a with the way it delivers the power and torque. With a nice high redline and shorter gear ratios the car really is one of a kind. I’ve had a 997s and a 99.1 s and neither touch this car in performance or feel.

cmon guys help me out should I keep her as she will Definately be looked back on as a really special 911 in years to come. Driving this car and a 992 is like worlds apart. Yes the 992 is amazing in its own right but the connection imho is kinda lost while driving the T has that almost old school feel. It still has that “small” feel like the car is hugging you and your not just sitting on top of it while you just hold on.

just don’t know what to do!! 😖

Unless you "need" to sell it, just stay enlisted in the T Army, man. You can ALWAYS find something faster, newer, "better"... but when a car speaks to you and you bond with it, then that means something. I know these T's really have with many of us. It just has "it"...

If you can afford to keep it and grab other cars and then it loses that shine, well then it would be time to move on. I don't think 117k covers all the mods you've made either. Are you going back to stock and are going to try and sell those parts/recoup something? Or selling as is?

I know I could basically sell my car for what I paid for it after 3 1/2 years and tons of great miles/memories, but then what? And this is just a lowly Carrera. Kinda unheard of, even with COVID. Every couple of months I am a bit tempted... but then I go for a drive and realize how crazy I am contemplating that. It is that good, I will miss it that much, and then I will just be back on the wheel with other cars that come/go and I don't really miss. No thanks.

I was talked off the cliff last week as I was tempted to sell because I can’t use it much for the next 2 years. I have no interest in “better” or faster. It’s the same thoughts I have about instead of adding with newer getting something older someday along side the T when I have more time.

Believe me I agree with you. Honestly the car is great stock but with the few tasteful mods in right places it’s another level. To answer your question. No I don’t have to sell. I’m over the newer faster. I just grabbed a 72 T after a years search for the right one. Having both truly is having and eating your cake.

I actually was giving the guy all kids plus all stock parts for that price. Both sets of wheels. I agree it’s Definately not covering everything. Plus ppf on mostly all of car. Honestly I think I just may hold off. I think I just caught the wanting to sell fever bc the market is hot. But I don’t think the value on this one wil go down. The 80k g bodies will Definately take the hit they deserve while the longhood will continue to appreciate as they should. I’m still baffled that the .2 gt3 have over 200k price tags where 7 9 months ago I had 2 chances at 140-145. But that’s another story.

we are here for the Ts. We are the smart ones and truly “know what we got”. Happy driving guys!!!

…this popped on the 992T thread yesterday. My favorite part of this review is the part where he describes that Porsche claims they did so many things different in this car but he could never find a list. I had no idea about the neutral spring setting in the MT. Can’t wait for the next 10 years of finding all those Easter eggs.

Overall spot on review (the title was some good clickbait though).

I was surprised to hear that in the UK the T is the 991.2 model that depreciates the most. I don't have any data to refute, it just seems odd compared to the situation in the US!

As for his point about the T being an odd duck and a possible wasted opportunity as compared to the club sports of old, EVO also said much the same in their original review (and seemed to warm up to the car later on calling it a 'future icon').

If I put my pragmatic hat on - some of the ideas presented in the video don't make financial sense --> there must be a non-trivial cost to rework the .2 platform to fit the six-speed and NA 4.0... and once you start talking about adding carbon panels and such I suspect you're going to start to encroach uncomfortably on GT3 pricing, and similar production constraints?
