These posts aren't making my decision any easier . Even though I do have to go PDK for the wife.

PDK isn't a negative. it's an alternative. it may be less engaging, but even that argument carries less weight now that they auto blip. it's smarter than you, which means it makes you faster.

i love my PDK T. i don't think anyone with a PDK T feels like they're missing anything. you won't either.

Wanting a GT4 is what initially brought me to the brand. In 2016 I was late and missed out, decided I'd hold out for the next one. And then I drove a couple Ts, and that was that. As stated very different cars. I have been fortunate to drive a couple 981 GT4s (no 718s) yet, and it will absolutely be the next P car I ADD, but i would not replace the T with it. In the last couple mos the 981 mkt has softened a noticeable amount (at least in my area, AZ/SoCal). There used to be 4-5 for sale at any time priced in the $90-$110 range. Today there are 11 for sale, and only two over $90k. The 718 launch will more than double the supply of GT4s on the road over the next year and there will be plenty of good deals to be had on the second hand market for both gens. YMMV

to requote myself and BA73, you can see the feedback is recurring.

my recommendation, if you're only going to have one, go T. when your wife becomes porsche obsessed, buy another. my wife genuinely said "i never want us to own another car that isn't a porsche." proudest moment of my life maybe.

now we drive around and she calls out porsche paint colors whenever we see one. lol.

Default Track App / Lap Times

Hello All;
I am in the market for a Carrera-T and have a few lined up. One of which does not have the chrono package listed, does not have the chrono clock, but does have sport, sport +, Ind, and normal control on the steering wheel so I am a little confused.
Would I still be able to use the Porsche Precision app effectively without the chrono package? If not is there away to add the functionality back in?
Also what version PCM is in the 2018-2019 is that 4.0 and would laptimes still be recorded by the PCM w/o the chrono package - I am guessing no but wanted to validate.

Appreciate and clarifications you can make

Your car has Sports Chrono as it was standard on the T h by it you didn’t have to get the clock on the dash. As for track precision, that someone else may have to weigh in on.

All T's have Sports Chrono, it's just the clock on the center of the dash is an option which can be had for extra $320.

I understood - and the image below may confirm - that the $320 gets you the clock AND the functionality of the Porsche Track Precision.

But, in case you haven't tracked the conversation about Porsche Track Precision, it isn't coming highly recommended right now. I tried it unsuccessfully last weekend. I still count it in the 'junk app' category.

yeah track precision app isn't a big deal and neither is the dash clock. it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me on an otherwise well specc'd car.

Track precision app is frankly a bit rubbish compared to Harry's lap timer.
One of the things that bugged me about track precision is the seeming inability to synch to an external gopro mounted on my tow hook receiver.
It also seems to just stop sometimes. Hard to capture a full lap.

Track precision app:

I tried my best to use the PTP app last weekend. First session I got a recording for ~20 mins. I did about 10 laps, but the app said I did 99 laps. I turned on and 'started' in the hot pit... did a lap to cross the start / stop line and the App started recording. But, somehow came up with 99 laps. It recorded 98 laps less than one second, and one lap of 20 mins.

The next session the App crashed right after I drove onto the Track.

No more. I then switched to RaceChrono Pro (which someone else in the club uses)... so I am giving that a go.

[Edit: i guess i should have added that I did not set up my iPhone with an external GPS... was trying to keep it simple.]

Do all Ts have auto rev matching in sport and sport+ regardless of the clock option? I was doing some reading on T options and got confused.

Yes. They are SC- cars from Z. You add the + back to SC when you bought the clock and Track Precision app (which is anything but ala the above...)

Rev matching is disabled if you turn the nannies off.

now I am confused.
my T has sport chrono with the dash clock precision app and Sport and SPort+

a T without the dashclock has SC but no precision app, but it also has sport and sport + right?

does a T without Sport Chrono not have Sport+

and can rev matching be disabled if traction control is off?
