Argument has been they won't because the original T was a short single generation run also. also i don't think the T was considered an easy sell for most people at the time. it was introduced too late in the cycle as most non-enthusiast buyers were awaiting the 992.

Phase 1 of track mode complete. Racing shoes, gloves, Simpson hybrid S (with OEM 3 point) and upgraded big brake kit from AP Racing.

Phase 2 will be wheels and tires. Prolly Cup 2's... (but has anyone tried the Dunlop Sport Maxx Race 2s?) Maybe over the winter.

Phase 3 will be 5-6 point harness, and Roll bar. Season 3.

I also find the conjecture like this over on the 992 GT3 sub interesting:

https://rennlist.com/forums/992-gt3-...-feasible.html

P has pretty much definitively stated no NA in Carreras, but people feel like they were mislead before and don’t want to believe it. Selfishly, I want to believe it because I want to hold onto this car for a while. But a NA T, without associated dealer games, would be nearly impossible to resist. Even in the 992 format which I feel is unsuited for one without significant retrograde (dat azz, dem hips, all the electronics...). Time will tell and thankfully I’m not sitting around waiting, but driving the kind of car I’ve always wanted. I know I’m not alone.

absolutely not.

they will have a lightweight option for most models - so there is no need for a T

back to track day front.... I am going to be at Laguna Seca July 26th, Sunday if anyone in the bay area wants to join. I'll bring my T, but I'm renting a Cayman from SP Motorsports for the day to drive and will be at their garage/tent.

I'm definitely going to look into that!

I've got to be honest, I miss my X73 981 Cayman S the most as a track car - less value/stress than a GT4 or a 911, and just a beaut to drive. I've been looking for a cheap one to use as a track car for the longest time, but it seems like everyone else has the same idea. I can afford 30 events with SP's car for the price of buying my own at current market prices, not factoring in consumables and maintenance. I normally do 6 events a year so that's 5+ years before I get my ROI on buying my own track Cayman. SP motorsports is a great idea... it's not clear from their site; are they running their own event or piggybacking on some other org like PCA, HOD etc?

"Absolutely". That's a quote from Achleitner. He said it almost two years ago. Not sure why anyone would think that they wouldn't.

they piggyback others. this one is being hosted by northern california racing club. but SP handles the registration, insurance, etc. it's definitely the way to go. $1,900 for the cayman S including reg. and insurance. last one i did was $1,600. bring a helmet. show up. don't worry about a thing. for the price of tires and brakes alone, it's worth it until you get to true competition level driving. you can get a GT3, GT3 Cup, GT4 CS, etc as well. it's a good group of regulars.

You mean the guy who retired a couple months after supposedly making that statement? The guy who said the exact opposite of some other Porsche executives just a few months before, as also widely reported? Time will tell...

We've just discussed this one quite a bit...

https://rennlist.com/forums/992/1102...rrera-t-4.html

And you know we're all passionate about the T.

I'm sure there's tons of discussion on it. I'd be curious to see what this pans out to be. https://www.autoblog.com/2020/07/06/...o-nurburgring/

it just wouldn't make much sense. a lot of stuff like PASM is standard on the base car now anyways.

Despite the T being a lukewarm initial reception in sales terms, and despite the new car being wide, it seems Porsche added a purist matrix to 911 offerings, with R and T. They possibly will tweak those model names, but doesn't it seem they will offer a lower level, and a higher level
purist offering in 992? From the company who knows how to own customers like no other car maker? I bet we see a 992 R-like NA engine send-off, as well as a Carrera based purist offering, possibly under a different nomenclature from Carrera T, and 911R. Moot for 991.2 cars,
value or desire for them, since any new attempt at a base purist package will be wide front and quite different from the 991.2 cars. And possibly just that, an option package, at least for the Carrera based offering. I'd expect a similar car in concept, likely in the 992.2 models.
