I will try the reboot first. I am using it wirelessly. What is the best way to get ahold of Chstek?
As I stated before, this only happens about 1 in 20 times, so it will take several weeks to work through a few items.
Thanks for the ideas.

Still waiting on an answer from Chstek, but I have queried another Android seller. He stated that factory oem back up cam can work with Android Head Unit but a certain connector is needed, and that connector is very expensive. Said it would be easier and cheaper to just buy and install an aftermarket cam.

I am not sure what the factory backup camera interface looks like behind the PCM, but my guess is that it's some type of FAKRA plug. At the end of the day these are just video cameras, my initial instinct is you need to find out which plug is the for the factory camera so you can turn the input to an RCA using an adapter like this.

I did a search for OEM camera retrofit to see if I could get some insight into the video connector that goes to the PCM and I found this thread and the pics in this post https://rennlist.com/forums/981-foru...l#post14889285

It looks like the interface box plugs into into the car side of the quadlock cable and then has an output quadlock that goes into the PCM - so that does imply that the camera video feed is sent via the quadlock connector so it might 'just work' with the Android unit as it did in Zed's car, but there are no guarantees until someone tries it!!

Heard back from Chstek and yet another vendor (Owtosin) and both said their units do not support oem factory cam. Also, the link to the video connector is dead, and it seems the OP in the RL link could not get it to work, or at least never replied that he got it to work. Thanks for researching.

That's interesting and a bit of a bummer for people with OEM backup cameras. I must have just gotten lucky in the Panamera because I didn' research it and just ***-u-med that the OEM camera would work, and fortunately, it did.

Installing an aftermarket camera is easy enough, but time-consuming. I did it for the Cayman in about 5 hours. I found a way to do it without removing the rear bumper. No experience with the 911 though, unfortunately. There is a ton of YT content about it though. You can also get neat cameras which replace one of the license plate light units (has light plus camera) and these are easier to install. The upside of eplacing the OEM camera is that a good aftermarket camera gives a much better image. My wife's rear view is amazing (LOL) and way better than the rear view in the Panamera, which is a lot less clear and well defined.

I messaged Chstek as well as I am in need of a new radio after my PCM bricked. They replied back and said they couldn't guarantee the OEM backup camera would work. Not exactly saying "no" but I don't want to take a $550 gamble on it. I also reached out to Isudar and they said their full replacement head units work with OEM camera's and don't require any additional wiring. I think I may try the Isudar unit out if nobody can confirm Chstek or Erisin works with factory cameras.

Hmmm. I was going to ask Isudar as well but both Aliexpress and the Isudar website say they are out of stock. Definitely let us know if Isudar is the oem cam solution.

I can confirm that Isudar worked with the OEM backup camera in my Panamera. But it still retains the dreadful PCM display etc of course.

This is the Isudar Android Head Unit, not the board that goes into PCM. It is out of stock.

that is the old version, they have a new one and it is in stock:

https://www.isudar.com/collections/f...40657380802642

it's available in 7" or 8.4" screen size but the larger one doesn't have buttons

Now that is pretty cool - especially the version with buttons which looks very OEM. At first I thought it was a bit pricey, but it comes with the MOST box, so for anyone who needs that, it works out at about the same price as the others. I was always happy enough with the Isudar board - what I disliked were the fiddly installation and the retention of the old PCM screen.

Thanks for link. Says right on ad that it supports original rear camera! So, are you moving forward with purchase?
