I feel like it didn’t devolve into that, rather that’s what OP was asking for... advice.

Read the last two sentences of your post out loud. Hardly 'advice'. Classic Rennlist 'Let me tell you what you should like and do'.

I still don’t see where I crossed over the line there... and you seem to agree with me because you DD a small reliable comfortable car right? I feel like if I said “driving the 911 on Tuesdays just feels totally wrong, you shouldn’t do it” it would be acceptable advice based on my personal biased preferences versus saying “only idiots would drive the 911 on Tuesdays” would be crossing the line.

Well, this won't be popular here.... but... have you test driven a new mustang? Not the fancy car as the others stated in this thread but for the money it is certainly a strong value. Flame all you want.... the 15+ are great and the 18's got even better.

I have a 991.1 GTS cab and for me, it is a blissful daily driver here in So Cal. It makes inching along in bumper to bumper traffic more tolerable. And when I do get some open road, ahhhh, what a car!!!

I love the new GT350, haven’t gotten around to test driving one yet though. Or driving down to see my buddy who bought one.

fantastic car but that flat plane crank is no bueno for a DD. The standard GT is what you want. The flat plane crank is a lot of maintenance with any kind of mileage.

If you "are what you drive", then you are living with your parents with a huge car payment and will have hearing problems before you're 30. At least around here you can't sit at a stoplight and not see three new Mustangs. You'll know two more are coming because you can, literally, hear them a half mile away. I really try to be open-minded and respect other people's choices but I have to admit that I fall short when it comes to the obnoxious-modified-exhaust-high-revving-Mustang crowd. If you've ever been to a cars and coffee you know what I mean.

I would not consider any BMW with the 4.4L V8. That includes the new M5.

Google 'BMW 4.4 engine problems'. Some of the original faults have been rectified to an extent, but the fundamental flaws seem to remain.

I've learned an important lesson when it comes to buying a daily driver: don't over-spend.

I purchased an X5M about 2 years ago. In that time, I've lost maybe >35K in depreciation, lots of dings and scratches from idiots at my workplace, and averaged 14MPG (lolol)

Thankfuly, I've never had any issues with the car (yet) besides routine maintenance and a recall. And has been a blast to drive.

I will never, ever spend that much on a daily. While I love the car, I just can't stomach how much money I've flushed down the $hiter.

Once the car is out of warranty (M car w/ out warranty? no thank you), I'm going to look for a daily that's more reasonable.
