Found out my Icarsoft CR Pro should do everything necessary.

I posted pics and had a back and forth with a few members here in this thread...

And Yes, Costco Interstate was the plan.

After tightening my loose cable's on my battery, I'm not so sure I have a major problem...However my battery IS the original ...It has the 42 Week of 2016 Stamped on the Negative posted...

It'll get replaced regardless...

Ouch. I see icarsoft is noted. Time to sell the Durametric? Buy the icarsoft?

So, yes my battery is original and was a 42 week or 2016 I believe.

But, as it turns out, it was definitely the loose battery terminals (no clue how / why they came loose).

We did 400 miles today on a mountain drive and many starts / stops and it never failed to crank once.

However, my auto Start / Stop isn't working and shows the big A with a line crossed through it on my screen, so that tells me it's weak and the computer knows it and has disabled the auto start / stop.

Even if it cranked and ran well all day, I'll be replacing it anyway.

This -^ The Durametric just barely worked on the 981 and 991.1 to do service reset.

Yup. I sold my Durametric Pro after getting an iCarSoft v3. So far it’s done everything I’ve asked of it from oil reset, ECU code resets, to real time sensor data on everything from the ‘15 Turbo to the ‘21 718. I haven’t used it on the ‘22 Spyder yet, but I expect it to work.

In my opinion, auto start/stop not working is not a problem. LOL

Agree 100%!!

Just something I noticed when I'm in lazy auto reg. mode at times.

My worry isn't about the A.S.S. working, it's getting stranded somewhere without a jump.

So, I'll be a new battery anyway given the age and being original.

Just glad I was able to drive yesterday though. Great day out.

But, in all seriousness, ... I'd also be concerned about anything else not working now because of a low battery condition.

You are 100% correct that when your auto start/stop is not working, it is an almost certain sign that your battery needs to be replaced. I've seen it on two other vehicles we've owned from two different manufacturers. In both cases, the batteries tested weak/bad even though they still started the car. The system was designed to be disabled when battery monitoring systems detect a battery issue.

So the auto start/stop system is good for something other than saving a little fuel and helping manufacturers with their CAFE numbers.

If you're a hater, who leaves it off all the time, you might want to turn it on every now and then as an easy diagnostic aid.

I don’t think I’ve ever activated auto start/stop in my TTS.

Finally, figured-out how to get the start/stop to default to last setting with my piwis 2 so I will never have to push the button again to disable.

Since "Start/Stop" on and off is a simple button press on the center console, it is zero hassle. If the indicator LED is red, it's disabled. Once disabled, it stay's off on every subsequent restart until I tap the button again and the LED extinguishes. That's the way it works on my 2014 991.1 TTS, although other MYs and gens may be different.

It puzzles me why folks would want to mess around w/ hacks to disable it permanently when it's so simple to tap the button just once with a finger to have it always disabled on my car. However, I do enable it every so often to check the battery condition, as I mentioned above.

Yes, mine works the same way. I’ve never seen a reason to activate it, but I didn’t know about the battery condition check.

If you have "Start/Stop" enabled (LED light off) and if your battery is weak/run down, it will no longer shut down the engine. The battery monitoring system automatically disables it to protect against getting stranded. Thus, that's an easy check to test battery condition.

As I also mentioned above, that's what alerted me on two previous vehicles of two different makes that it was time to replace the battery.

I only have to press the button once to keep it off forever. Pressing the button again keeps it on forever, until I turn it off again. No system hacks required.

I think I have to disable mine each time I start the car, IF I leave it Normal mode, but only do that most time until it's up to a safe Operating temp to turn to Sport or Sport + in manual and tach it up a bit more in each gear.

Now knowing the Auto Start / Stop is a good battery life check, I'll make sure I do that in the future every once in a while....Or use my Icarsoft CR Pro to check the battery life like I did the other day.

ALSO, y'all check your battery terminal post tightness... No clue why / how mine became loose, but assume just 3+ years / 14K miles of vibration while driving. That was my issue the other night, along with having a 7-8 year old battery.
