I've had an Ilmberger carbon-fiber belly pan on my Aprilia Tuono Factory for a few years now and can say that bare CF in the path of debris thrown up from the tires (the front, in my case) doesn't fare very well. It looks great everywhere else but the sandblasting from dust and stones and whatnot really takes its toll in the line of fire.
If I were to do it again I'd PPF the hell out of that thing.
