Already had the car torn apart to swap to do88 intake/intercooler. Figured may as well swap plugs.
Props Man. I don't know how you got to the heat shield bolt between the turbo heat shield and the coil heat shield. You must have more tools, or really long skinny fingers!
For the moment, I'm going to assume that the A/O separator hasn't failed and that the partially filled suction hose is "normal" for 20k miles.
Sadly, I think this actually *is* normal. Perhaps exasperated by those who drive their cars in a particularly spirited manner. But only those owners do their own work and pull intercooler hoses themselves, or possibly have an early version of the passenger side lower boost hose that doesn't do a good job 'containing' the oil would ever notice. As they say, ignorance is bliss. Or is it?
and then 3 of the 4 nuts that bolt the cat to the hot side. At that point you can wiggle the turbo heat shields out.
I hate those freaking heat shields... I've had my exhaust on and off perhaps a half dozen times at this point, and I can always count on spending a fair number of extra 'quality' minutes dealing with them.
What do those that go with upgraded turbos do about heat shields? Just leave them off? I assume they don't fit over other Turbos. Damn tempting... Or possibly to at least modify them so they only slide over one of the cat mounting studs and slotting that one hole so the cat doesn't need to be removed to pull the heat shield.
It wasn't that bad. Used a box end wrench to loosen then loosened with both my middle fingers wrapping around the turbo. That being said, 2nd side was much easier after I figured out my system.

Great job! It's not as bad as what some folks say it is.

not at all. a ratching box wrench worked wonders on that one bolt then just us a magnet stick to get it back in place. those were easy, whats hard is the turbo heat shields but just takes patience to get them out of the way.
