Thousanss of threads and nobody understood yet
that Porsche is really scared by car appreciation
BECAUSE PPL RARELY SELL THEIR APPRECIATING ASSETS (see 997 4.0)
fine when its a 600 limited car production
but when it start being for regular 5000 car production
is dangerous
once custoners have put 2 or 3 GT in their garage
most likely THEY DON T BUY A NEW ONE soon
and in mid term would DESTROY the PAG market
in other words capitalism works until ppl use their products
to buy asap a new one

IMO the GT3 should never be a "reward" car. Everyone who can afford and wants a GT3 should get one. NO demand-1 stuff, supply should equal demand. If you want to dangle the GT3RS, 997 RS 4.0 etc for the super awesome customers that's fine, but the base GT3 should be available for every track rat and back road dude that can cut the check.
As I understand it, Porsche is currently supply restricted by factory size.

Right, and if they can't make more cars, at least get them in the hands of the true customers, not flippers and speculators!

Hilarious, but I've had this happen with beers. I walk into the beer store and the employees offer me rare barrel aged beers that they only offer to people they know.

If the store owner has only five cartons of milk to sell and has 15 regular customers that want to buy a carton, should he sell it to a stranger that walks through the door and wants one? What you're all missing is this is a business relationship between Porsche, the dealer and customers. By customers I mean those that have purchased cars before. For many of you to say that relationships don't matter and only money matters you're living on an another planet in the business world.
This is all about relationships. Ferrari recognized this long ago and has pretty much adhered to it. Porsche is just getting into the game and recognizing their best customers and making cars available to them. To assert that these relatively limited number of cars should be on a first come first serve basis is nonsense.

Not the way it works unfortunately. I'll still be behind the same people who are ahead of me in the .2 GT3 queue. The same group of people want all the same GT cars. If I ask for a .2 GT3RS, next GT4, etc., I'll still face the same uphill battle with the same customers ahead of me.

To be honest, I think it is sort of nice to build a relationship with a brand and have them offer you cars that some people might not get. I think that is the most special thing about some of these brands. If anyone could walk into Porsche and buy a GT3 or walk into Ferrari and buy a 488 Spider then what would be so special about them? Just because you have a lot of money doesn't mean you should get special treatment. I could split up all my money and buy one car from each brand and have a wide range of cars in my garage but not so special of a relationship with the dealers and the brands. But, I have decided to spend my money with Porsche because I love the way they treat me, the heritage of the company is astounding, and quite frankly it is the best driving car money can buy in my eyes.

Ultimately, if enough of us get sick of it, then demand goes down.
I for one, got off that carousel a long time ago. I don't even bother trying to get a new car. Tech is cool but performance increases are minimal nowadays. I enjoy the ones I have and trade when I want to. I try to avoid paying up for a car and that keeps me sane.

No, just many of us have had the experience of buying multiple brand new cars from a dealership and servicing them all there, only to be told to go pound sand. There is no 'relationship' to be had with many dealers. I've purchased three brand new Porsches in the last 30 months and spent over $10k in mods and service with local dealers, and that has afforded me nothing at all in the way of a 'relationship'. They're nice and all, but it ain't gettin' me a car.
Once in, I doubt you will be taking the position you're taking now.

From the same dealer or did you shop price? If I am buying 3 cars from the same dealer in the past 30 months I would be all over the sale manager letting him know I want the next hot Porsche GT to be built. It's a campaign to insinuate yourself into being part of the program.

I don't understand the whole 'exclusivity' thing. Never did. Never will.
Some of us just want to pound the hell out of the on the race track and then repeat the process when the next model comes out. I don't care how many other people have the car and who sees me in the car. I really don't.

If only it were that easy...
My dealer knows, but that doesn't really increase my confidence.
I'm laid back. It doesn't need the first one...I don't really care if it takes 12-18 months. I just want to know I'll be able to get one without getting completely boned on price, or trade-in value.

I hate to break it to you, but it's the CAR that is special. Not you.
