I picked it out of my neighbor’s trash years ago and threw it in my pick up truck to see if I could fix it. My other grill is a Duquane I got for $25 on Craigslist that I had to patch a hole in. The Weber the AA battery in the igniter was dead. That’s all that was wrong with it. I never even fixed it, I put new battery in and then took it out. I just use a lighter on a stick from Walmart. I love living near rich people. They throw out the best stuff. I am not sure they feel the same way about living near me though. But if you think the weber is dirty, you should see the GT3. Maybe I can rub her with WD40. In all seriousness, I do wipe her down once and a while (dollar store oven cleaner works great), but she sits on the porch and the rain blows in so it is a losing battle.
I do the same with pressure washers. Started on a pressure washer picked from the town dump with a running motor and cracked pump. $45 pump from ebay and it runs fine with accessories from Obsessed Garage. I can move those accessories from one free power washer to the next. Found another free working pump on FB marketplace this past summer. Gave that one to my brother.
