Race cars, air-cooled Ps, and more recently Paris Dakar-winning SUV kick. 2-door RR, Pajero/Montero, Land Cruiser, Isuzu Trooper. Are those period white steelies on your RR?
I can’t weld for s_ _t, but can drive vehicle inside ocean container and have metalwork done elsewhere.

The wheels are what rover people call disco I steelies. They came on 94-95 Range Rover classics and 94-99 discovery I as spare wheels. In theory, they were the stock wheels on 94 D90 in the US, but only a prototype/early truck got them or at least was pictured with them, all delivered to customers got the tornado alloys. I got 4 of them for $100 a while back (I overpaid) and gave them a quick sand and hit them with primer and some color matched alpine white spray paint I had for my NAS Defender 110. The tires were off my tacoma (I upgraded to TRD offroad wheels and tires so these on the stock steel toyota wheels were sitting in my basement). $80 to swap them over. They are great wheels because they have a different inner rim for bead retention (rover alloys have them too) and they are tough as nails.
The reason the seat belt mount rots out is because there is a plate under it with a captive nut and water gets in and rots the body above the plate. Passenger side is fine interestingly (passenger side has the big hole in the floor). Nothing is galvanized on Range Rover classics (so too disco I) so the body rot is bad. This one being from North Carolina and actually not that rusty compared to most.
I like being cheap so my target budget for all repairs, maintenance, and upgrades (I ordered cocomats on sale) is the dealer labor cost for the 2 year service on my GT3. I think I can do it unless something really major pops up, even then, used parts are plentiful and fairly cheap and there is massive aftermarket and genuine parts support available for old rovers. To me it’s about saving the old girl as I miss the black 95 LWB I had that completely rotted out. This one sat for quite a while and was passed around to a couple owners before I got her, but she is in good hands now.
I need to try to make one good seat ECU out of two, but for now the seats can stay fixed (you can Hotwire them where you want).

If you like rally trucks, check out bowler. I’d love to see some pics of your SUVs. Funny enough my second NAS defender 90 was built by a Swiss guy to run Dakar, he never ran it, but it had some fun mods line a second tank and massively overbuilt steering and suspension.

This is what rusts:
On a Land Rover Series or Defender, only the bulkhead (firewall), series breakfast (grill panel), and chassis are steel (but there are steel bits riveted onto the aluminium like the battery box on the seat box and rear tub supports).

Picked up the RS from the workshop, drove it 2 hours (normally 50 mins) in bumper to bumper friday afternoon traffic with a storm in the mix... I dont know in other parts of the world, but here in Sydney people lose their minds when it rains, you are guaranteed traffic...
I gave it a rinse over the weekend... this one makes me smile, A LOT.
