Reality is that the MSRP for these car was the right price and not this foolishness about Porsche pricing it to low yada-yada-yada.
Lessons to be learned by many.....

Definitely don't pay over MSRP. That is the lesson.

The way I read that, it said there were 47bids, and the highest bid was more than $30k over MRSP. It was just that the reserve was even more than that.

So, unrealistic expectations, but lots of bidders up to $30k over.

Correct me if I'm wrong...

Pretty much on. We dont know how many bids were over MSRP. Depends on where the bidding started. $1 or at MSRP as an example..

It appears that right now for the RS the market will bear 20-30 over for the right spec. Far from the 80 it was. A couple more days and we will see where the Overton auto car ends up. They think $40, I say not.

That's exactly the range I'm thinking for a used RS. Then again my dealer just sold one of their brand new ones for way more than that.

New model anticpiation, buyers are holding out

Bingo^

Once sellers start asking around Msrp these cars will sell.
Same goes for the 991.2gt3!

By definition MSRP is always the right selling number for a new car.

The $176K MSRP is the right number for the RS. Interestingly only slightly lower then the $184K MSRP for the R which is it's "right" number.

Market determines the "wrong" number that cars actually trade hands for depending on what side of the transaction your on.

Sort of blows a hole in the whole efficient market theory, doesn't it?

Since the .2 GT3 announcement, the price for RS cars locally have dipped anywhere from $20k - $50k.. I surely hope they all learn from this as these cars will sit and languish.

Not sure Porsche really cares as many of these cars were sold once, and the flips are getting hit. Less than 50 RS's sitting some of dealer friends could care less because the consider it a show piece to sell other cars. It's a cycle the .2 people are dying in a lie begging to have them, and will pay more ....never ending cycle. I waited until last October and got my RS for a fair deal, and sold the GT3 close to what I paid two years ago. All depends on how bad you want a car ......the 488's are taking a bath and selling less than MSRP. Pick your poison in this high stakes poker game.

Yup and the next car to take a hit on the big premium side is the 991R. Not saying it'll go back to MSRP but the premium might be cut in half.
